Thom Yorke has posted some notes on the progress of Radiohead's new record at the band's official website. Check the section called Dead Air Space. In totally related news, guitarist Ed has said that two songs are currently being worked on, provisionally titled 'Mornin' m' Lud' and 'Pigsee'. The band are keeping an online studio diary, enabling fans to monitor the new album's progress via band members' postings. Photographs from sessions will also be posted.
DiScuss: So, what do you want? Another Hail To The Thief? More OK Computer paranoia? None of much of the above but all of a something? Do tell, kids; you're the reason we get out of bed of a morning...

their kid a diary was pretty good i seem to remember. especially with the formulation of egyptian song into pyramid song, gettin gup at 2 to record vocals for it, etc. tasty.
less hail to the thief, more releasing of follow me around. -

Yes, 'Follow Me Around' needs more attention!!!
But I'd just like something completely new and NOTHING like Amnesiac PLEASE! Big waste of time.
Richx-
Re: Radiohead keep studio diary
Follow me around is good, yes.
Summat new sounding would be good, yes
Amnesiac - big waste of time? no
but HTTT was ace, so more of that would be fine, yes
I heard that arpeggi song and it was ok, maybe.
I should stop typing like this, yes.

i'd love it if they surprised everyone and did a monster of a rock album, but suitably skewed and unpredictable of course, just taking the text book and ripping it to shreds then putting it back together. i'd also like to hear them do something that sounded really optimistic, because all this James Blunt optimism is actually just depressing.
I still like to think Radiohead are the band who could save rock'n'roll....well from all the retrogressive straightforward 'THE' band school of rock....-
Re: Radiohead keep studio diary
Morning M'Lord is a fantastic song - there's an acoustic version of it on the new Radiohead TV DVD. This next album should be incredible. -
Re: Radiohead keep studio diary
They should do some Meshuggah-style tech metal. That would really freak out the squares...-
Radiohead keep studio diary
or a full on glitch pop beat-addled beast with tunes, say Thom singing over something along the lines of 'Richard D. James'

I want a full band version of True Love Waits! *sigh*-
Re: Radiohead keep studio diary
yeah that would be ace

Radiohead keep studio diary
based on what i've heard it's going to be almost folky, less acoustic ballads, more pastoral landscapes. a sparse, evocative record. -
Radiohead keep studio diary
they should come out with something along the lines of the backstreet boys. that would put the cat amongst the pigeons-
Re: Radiohead keep studio diary
They should just go avant garde and record the sound of them releasing a tiger into an aviary. That would go beyond a cat amongst the pigeons...

Re: Radiohead keep studio diary
Yes yes yes. Definitely. But with glitchy beats and found sounds too. -
Radiohead keep studio diary
They should carry on moving the way they did with HTTT. Which I suspect is what they will do. Poly-stylistic black comedy is where it's at.
I actually cannot get over how good Radiohead are.-
Re: Radiohead keep studio diary
if only they would take a schizo YMSS sax style direction

You lot moan too much. Leave Radiohead alone and stop asking them to make more predictable pop music. There are plenty of bands to provide you with that stuff. We need Radiohead's art and avant gardism now more than ever. -

I saw Thom Yorke at Oxford station on wednesday... -

whatever direction radiohead want to take for the new album is fine by me, you can always trust them to suprise and excel at what they do best...being the saviours of the disenchanted that they are -

Expect the unexpected. I now wouldn't be surprised if their next album was full of rap music. That would be pretty interesting. Has Thom Yorke ever done any rapping? -
Re: Radiohead keep studio diary
thom cant sing that way .actually i'm scared of the thought of what it may sound like..interesting probably..
but first they should do something more punky but with appropriate tech pyrotechnics

some gothic death metal-cum-mathcore-cum-kraftwerk style electro with liberal all round sprinkling of western classical orchestral arrangements...and some really sweet pop.
i dream of what it might be ..............!!!!......**????.... yes, thats it -

I would like to hear something very dark from Radiohead. Radiohead EERIE music... -

I'm sure it'll be ace whatever they do. Maybe it'll take a couple more listens to get into, compared to the offerings from other bands, but that's what sets radiohead in a class of their own.
Ah well, as long as Thom continues with the legendary 'spaz dance' i'll be happy :D -

The acoustic live version of 'True Love Waits' is so ac hingly beautiful, I really worry if they ever did a full band version it wouldn't be the same.
By the way, recently I came upon this.
Thom Yorke. Radiohead go into studio. Crazy Frog comes out. Crazy Frog strangely resembles Thom Yorke. Anyone?
