the ed fitz are mathematical, intense, intriguing and energetic oxford-based almost post-rock
the murder of rosa luxembourg used to be hugely mathematical screamo types with a penchant for obscenely complex guitar riffs that worked ludicrously well with just a hint of post-rock action. with their new 7" they've gone more into the post-rock side of things and it's frankly fantastic.
the track on the YMSS split by the edmund fitzgerald is a bit weedy- not recorded with anything close to the energy that they achieve live- i'd recommend the track of theirs on the silverrocket(.org) compilation- theres another 49 bands on there too.
But seriously, the song they sent us is amazing. I don't know how they get their timings right. I always imagined they were wired up at the head to each other, of course having seen them live about a hundred times and not catching them plugging themselves in I doubt that's right, but have yet to come up with an alternative theory. Brain slugs?
Sorry for plugging, but www.silverrocket.org if you want a cd with 50 bands on (including Ed fitz, Joeyfat, Charlottefield etc etc) for £7 all in.
