Marty Leopard (not the name on the man's birth certificate) of sex-punk-pests Gay For Johnny Depp was attacked by a member of the audience at last night's Exeter gig.

The band, who are currently on tour with soon-to-split rockers Million Dead (see this article), were performing at the city's Cavern Club when an individual took offence to the NYC outfit's "pro-gay love live performance", to quote the good people of Captains Of Industy.

Leopard had to go to hospital but is now out again and nursing his wounds. The tour - remaining dates below - is not affected. GFJD's debut album proper, Blood: The Natural Lubricant (An Apocalyptic Adventure Beyond Sodom and Gomorrah), is released on September 19th through Captains Of Industry.

I was there
Thought it was part of the (weird) show when after a short trip into the (nearly non-existent) pit, he emerged back onstage with a bloody mouth saying "You made me bleed, fuckers!"
Obviously not! (Chuckles quietly)
Million Dead were awesome though, on top form.
Shame....

What a cunt, frankly. Arty is an INCREDIBLY nice guy from the times I've talked to him, and most probably laughed the thing off because the man's IQ was lower than amoeba level.

And I'll be at London, 'cause y'know...Million Dead, innit.

well i think he didn't half ask for it. he had the guy in a head lock. admittedly the guy shouldn’t have clocked him. but then some people are comfortable with naked men strangling them!

plus apparently arty bit the finger of the guy to the bone. he also looked like it wanted to beat the living crap out of the guy.

so you know six of one, half a dozen of another.

This isn't true. The kid who punched arty was actually a fan of the band and wearing a gay for johnny depp tee shirt at the time! His story was that he was taking pix of arty on a mobile phone, when he jumped off the stage, wrestled him to the floor and bit him on the hand. The kid stood up and punched him in the face.

There was no biting incident in Exeter, the cut was a result of throwing a punch that loosened Artys tooth and required 5 stiches in his mouth, in effect he cut himself. Clearly an impressive upper cut.

To be fair to arty, the kid did look like he was asking for it from where i was standing (near the back).
He had been dancing very stupidly, and in arty's face for a while, so he probably did deserve it.

yeah my point was that the incident was nothing to do with a homophobe taking offence to the content of the songs - in fact it was a fan of the band who knew exactly what they were about.

i was there at the front, my friend has artys blood on him i was lucky not to get blood on me either,i talked to the guy in question, yes he was a lil drunk, all he seemed to be doing was have fun and take photos of arty, arty several times came up us and screamed in out faces, when it happend arty was in the guys face had a headlock on him, dont blame the kid for doing it, beside arty stripped to his boxers and flashed his bits in the process, a funny gig nethertheless even tho all that happened, million dead were brilliant and played for ages :)

I saw them tonight in Bristol and I kind of wish I'd hit that cunt too. Or at least yanked his boxers down or stolen his trousers. This band made me very very angry and it was left to Million Dead, oddly, to calm me down again.
