Oasis are shortlisted for a whopping five nominations at this year's Q Awards. They've made their way into the running for the Best Track, Best Live Act, Best Album, Best Video and Best Act In The World Today gongs.

Coldplay (pictured because Oasis are simply too ugly) have picked up four nominations, while the couldn't-be-more-different-if-they-tried trio of James Blunt, Green Day and U2 have three each.

One-time DiS Records outift Kaiser Chiefs are nominated for Best New Act and Best Album.

To vote, and to see the complete list of nominees as you go through the voting process (click Jem and you fuckin' die), head here. The award ceremony itself takes place on October 10th at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Once again Q the lead the way in pushing new, pioneering music into the limelight...

Reading stories like this just makes you want to be run over by a lorry carrying a bulk load of next month's Uncut

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

I think I would actually vote Jem over U2 or James Blunt.

I think a kitten just died.

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Are you saying that you just "killed a kitten" over Jem? She is quite a pretty lady, its just a strange admission on DiS.

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

I haven't killed any kittens directly. It's the Tinkerbell effect, y'know? Every time you vote for U2, several indie labels go under. Every time you listen to Jem's sub-Dido aural wallpaper, several small furry animals snuff it.

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

What I meant was that on a lot of internet message board "killing a kitten" is a euphemism for wanking. Stemming from the age old Domo-Kun picture with the caption"every time you masturbate, god kills a kitten"

and seeing as Jem makes songs about giving head and is more than normally good looking....

M'eh

"and seeing as Jem makes songs about giving head and is more than normally good looking.... "

She does?
(And she is, as much as her music OFFENDS my FACE.)

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

yes she does I was reading about it in Q.

Dirty bitch

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Hah, it's so obvious when the lyrics are on screen like that, but somehow, I'd never cottoned on to that when hearing the track.
The dirty minx.

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

You could vote for MIA instead though.

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Why did you let my kitten die ?

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

dont know why i voted. i feel unclean. uninspiring pap, the lot of it.

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

That's exactly how I felt Carrotrope!

i bailed twice and tried to skip a category. when they wouldn't let me do that, i stuck a pin, hoping that the following category would actually mean something. What a fucking travesty of a poll.

Best act on the planet!!!!!
COLDPLAY
OASIS
GREEN DAY
MUSE
U2

this magazine is for oldies who desperately need to be reassured that they're not losing it. fuck me!!!!

I bet the annual CBeebies shindig would be more thought provoking

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

"this magazine is for oldies " Hmmmm, the last CD I bought is by the Bonsai Kittens - they are not on Q's list.

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

i think he meant to say "this magazine is for oldies who HAVE lost it!"

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

It's extremely sad that any human being in the country thinks that Don't Believe the Truth is one of the best five albums of the year.

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Nearly every category has practically the same bands, it's totally retarded.

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

This actually made me die a little inside.

ow.

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

The nominations for almost fucking everything are:

Oasis
U2
Coldplay
James CUNT
Green Day

How shit. Its like... the awards for the Geography teachers and 'cool' dads... horrible.

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Oh my God! Mainstream bands in Q awards shocker!

Or may be those bands are the best bands on the planet at the moment. Hell i'd rather listen to those nominated albums over say, Funeral, by the Arcade Fire which many on here would have voted for.

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

i just fouled myself

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Oasis; Best live act? A round of awful Karaoke any body?

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Yeah, cos getting showered in beer and being carolled by yobbos really makes a gig for me...

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

How can Kaiser Chiefs continue to get nominated for best album. Employment has to be one of the most disappointing albums of the year. First the Mercurys start bummin it and now Q?! iTS REALLY SHIT. It pisses me rite off.

Coldplay for best live act

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Muse are nominated for best live act. Have the Q readers not been to a gig in the last two years or something? I'm surprised Led Zeppelin weren't nominated for that one aswell.

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

kaiser chiefs are a diamond in the rough amongst this lot.

Re: Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

I think the phrase is Dog Poo in the Manure

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

"Coldplay (pictured because Oasis are simply too ugly)"

Can I just say this made me :-)

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

i was going to cast my vote but i can't bring myself to do it. Q used to be a really good music magazine (seriously) but now it's smash hits for grown ups. i mean, how seriously can you take a magazine that devotes two pages to 'the 50 tracks you must download this month'? who the fuck has time to download 50 tracks a month? i have a life you know!
another glaring feck up was last month's issue which was apparently the british issue which contained articles on those oh so very british acts white stripes, guns 'n' roses, and, er, korn.
bring back look-in that's what i say.

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Didn't Q give the Kaisers record 3/5?

mmm?
Charlatans.

And no, Im not referring to Tim Burgess...

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Talking of old artists who have lost any relevence what the hell is madonna doing in that itunes ad on this page?

I'm scared.

Nice airbrushing though.

"Muse are nominated for best live act. Have the Q readers not been to a gig in the last two years or something? I'm surprised Led Zeppelin weren't nominated for that one aswell"

True, the last gigs they played were the Earls Court gigs last December, but they still are one of, if not the, best live band around, despite not having played in a while. Doesn't the awards take in everything from the last year anyway?
Besides that, those nominations made me vom a little bit in my mouth.

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

poOasis
Upoo
pooplay
James poo
Green poo

sorry just felt like that

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

i love muse. and they are the best live band on the planet and should be rewarded. Constantly. I suggest 1 award per week is about sufficient/

Q nominations: Oasis storm the shortlists

Why does anyone writing posts on DiS noticeboard care about Q magazine nominations?

Oasis should win though.
