Oasis's Liam Gallagher - a well-documented fan of The Beatles - has called the production on the defunct (and fifty per cent deceased) band's latest collection, Love, rubbish.
Liam's brother Noel, pictured with his younger sibling, commented that the record - a compilation of revised favourite compositions - bored him and that he turned it off after just five songs. Again, Noel's known as quite The Beatles fan.
Of course, though, the two bands are currently head-to-head in the race to reach number one on Sunday's album chart - Oasis' Stop The Clocks was released yesterday, although it looks likely to be trumped by Westlife's The Love Album, see news here.
The brothers spoke to NME at the screening of their Lord Don't Slow Me Down film, a collection of live performances. The pair called Love's release pointless, and Liam commented:
“If you haven’t got The Beatles by now, you’re not going to get it. I’m all Beatled up!”
..
A mate of mines got this and said that the first time he heard this he was blown away by how good it is. This mate of mine is also a massive Beatles fan.
Does this mean that EVERYTHING that Liam says is complete shit?
no,
liam is the most profound poet of our generation.
.
my mistake.
Things that Liam...
...says, are mainly brilliant. Fact.

Dear Deidre,
I agree with The Oasis'. Please help
Grockle
Screening
I was at the screening last night, and the Q&A session was hilarious. It was being filmed and I really hope it turns up on the Lord Don't Slow Me Down DVD. Pure comedy gold!!
.
Tell us more.
Beatles = overrated
Oasis = overrated
Notice something?
His comments
Of course have nothing to do with the fact that The Beatles album is outselling theirs.
yeah that you incorrectly claim that the Beatles are overrated

The banter between Noel & Liam was so funny to watch, was like watching stand-up comedy! Liam's inability to hold a microphone in front of his mouth was quite amusing too, he kept waving it around so you just heard the odd word that he said.
Noel admitted that he was probably just getting carried away when he claimed that Stop The Clocks was the best thing he's ever written. He didn't say whether it's ever planned for release, but he did say that there were 11 songs left over from the last album, 7 of which are really good, and 4 of which are amazing (not sure if that's 4 out of the 7 or the remaining 4).
When asked why they no longer play anything from Be Here Now he said that they used to play D'You Know What I Mean, but "it goes on a bit", and didn't really answer the question any more than that.
I want to know, I want to know...
the gallaghers' comments are genius...remember when one of them called albarn a cuntfuck? I didn't think these two swear words would ever fit together so eloquently, but they did! Hoorah!
What
an embarrassing charade.
Been listening to 'Love'
And it's bloody excellent.
No idea what Parker's on about.
Pot.... Kettle.....Black
Nuff said
Exactly what I was gonna say.
But look at it this way our children will get to listen to an album of remixed/mastered/whatever Oasis songs 40 years down the line.
The end of the world can't come soon enough.
New CD pointless?
Calling kettle black perhaps?
Sorry gringo
Didn't see you there
Too slow
HAHA
surprisingly, i believe
that the new oasis greatest "hit" collection to be pointless.
But hell i think the new beatles one is as pointless so i cant disagree with him.
in my humble opinion
i think whether or not you are going to enjoy the new beatles album is based LESS on your love of the beatles in general, and MORE on your opinion of the album's concept - it's easy to form an opinion of such a project before hearing it, then stick to your "opinion" as you actually listen to it
Or alternatively
you could listen to it and then form an opinion afterwards? Just a thought.
I like it love but
they are pretty much on about love. people like my dad are going to buy it and i will just rip his copy. also it's clearly all about the money for the estates a the remaining two. while oasis was forced into releasing a best of.
also the new oasis song is pretty gnarly that is in the movie.
gnarly?
who says gnarly? are you tony hawk?
Noel...
is wrong. As ever.
Love is incredible. Within you without you / Tomorrow Never Knows is fucking brilliant.
This has made me want it more.
NONE to be sure
I bow down to the god that is Oasis...um...yeah...right...I'd sooner listen to Barry Manilow for 12 hours...go buy both cd's and shud up! I'm sick of celebs and their tirads and the people who have to go on about what was said and what cd is better. AGAIN GO BUY EM AND SHUD UP! I'm surprised the new U2 cd hasn't been dragged kicking and screaming into this convo........
"love" is emi's abbey road masturbation.
and oasis is rubbish as always they were.
I Love Noel...
...But to call "Love" pointless is bollocks. Unlike some people have said the remixed music was put together (as was George Harrisson's intention) for Cirque Du Soleil's take on the Beatles "Story" NOT to make more money! (They've got enough not to have to whore their music and heritage for the sake of a quick million or two!)
Its a new take on some of the Beatles best loved tracks compiled by George Martin who produced with ALL the Beatles on the music at the time, along side the two remaining Beatles. The Beatles experimented heavily when writing and recording and as a result there is a wealth of different sounds and versions that have been used to breathe new life and emphasis into some of the world's favourite songs. I have been lucky enough to have seen the show in Vegas, for which the soundtrack was created and its nothing short of a masterpiece.
If you want to talk about pointless music how about debating the merit of Westlife's latest musical excretion???!!!
Oasis
10 out of the 18 tracks on Stop The Clocks are from thier first two albums, which sums up how crap the rest of them are.
