Graham Coxon has revealed to Pitchfork that he hasn't, as yet, been approached by his former bandmates in Blur with regard to getting back together as a four-piece for a final album. The band's Alex James has, as we previously reported, been talking about a possible reunion.
Coxon said: "I haven’t been approached about it. I think about it: Would it be fun? Would it be a bit too scary? What would the dynamic be in a studio? Would I have to do promotion? Would I tour? You know, it’s a lot of thinking."
So that's not a no, then. Which is good. Coxon added, "I guess I still mull around and think about it every now and then." Do it, Graham!
Seriously, though: one final Blur album before a disbanding for good, it'd be fine wouldn't it? A last hurrah?! Hurrah!
Do it, Graham
Do it. DO IT.
DO IT
DO IT
judging by his recent solo material
and how much i love Think Tank, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO.
re joining blur...
...would thus save him from making anymore shockers like the last album! earlier graham solo material = ace in the face! you know why? he was still in blur... or having blur-related traumas in his mind at least. post-blur solo stuff = boring. blur need him and he needs blur.
yeah
his solo stuff perplexes me. his earlier albums are all over the place and obviously borne out of frustrations with Blur and, I guess, his issues with drink/life/whatever, but since he's left Blur they've become really conventional and dull and basically sound like Blur records from ten years ago, and he's just not a good enough songwriter to pull it off.
I wouldn't agree that Blur need him, though. I love Think Tank, and I think it benefits from Coxon not being around to pull the songs in a different direction to Albarn's vision for them.
I agree
though I'm not a big fan of Think Tank, thus would like to see Graham back.
what
theres nothing wrong with Love Travels At Illegal Speeds! hey, the last two albums havent been that mental or anything, but they are pretty solid
however, a reunion with blur may be awesome... but the real question is what would is sound like? !
note to graham: play more older solo stuff live.
as i said up there ^^^
he's making the same music blur did 10-12 years ago, but he's not nearly as good a songwriter as damon is/was and he can't pull it off. it's boring boring boring.
He's terrible.
Seeing him live really highlighted for me how shit he is.
And yes, Think Tank is incredible.
Please...
do it Graham!
although...
I do really like think tank.
patience
this sounds promising, but we shouldn't be dissappointed if it doesn't happen. and if we all holler really loudly....it won't happen.
you make...
a good point.
do it for the kids
and the pension fund.
what?
think tank is shit! his solo stuff rocks. period.
It would be good
if he rejoined and they also did a tour. I saw them live after he left and they were still great, but would like to have seen them with Coxon.
I think
he should totally do it, especially if they are saying it's defnitely going to be thier last offering.
As for the comments about his solo stuff above, i reckon the last two solo albums have bee shocking, but kiss of morning/blood tree etc are excellent, slightly warped albums which i think were ace.
it would be very satisfying
if they did all get together and do one last album. Has a nice ring to it. Battery In Your Leg suggests it might actually sound good too
DOOO EIIIT
and pull Damon's head out of his arse whilst yer at it
Why...
are music websites polluted with something about a possible Blur/Coxon reunion every week?
Graham should go back. His solo career up till the last album was immense, but if he's going to churn out shite like the last album again, he may aswell just go back to Blur.
I vote yes
Apparantly he's skint
The solo career has used up all his pounds!
His accountant will ensure this happens!
