Noel Gallagher planning a solo album... or four

noel gallagher oasis

Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher has told award-winning tabloid The Sun - yes, it too won awards at the recent Record of the Day bash - that he'd happily release a solo record.

He told that 'paper's Something For The Weekend section:

"I’ll do one eventually, as life’s too short and none of us are getting any younger. I’d like to make one while I still look good and before I look like Phil Collins, which, eventually, I will."

Like he doesn't look bad enough these days as it is. Poor Noel. He added that he's got the songs to make as many as four solo records, and that any such release/s would have nothing to do with his brother, Liam, at all.

Oasis, of course, released their Stop The Clocks best-of on Monday; it's unlikely to top the album chart on Sunday.

  • !

Doesn't he write all of Oasis' tracks anyway...what would be the difference?

Also..that Young Knives advert is fu''ing annoying.

    • boo

this sounds bad, is he trying to be as prolific as god ryan adams?

      • At least it's better than the Larrikin Love one

And I'm tired of people scapegoating Phil Collins

        • Collins

Yes, why do they keep rounding on Collins? It's always the easy targets with those Brothers. At least Phillipo isn't a Kasabian groupie eh!

I reckon his solo stuff would be a lot like 'Magic Pie' etc., less of the loud rockie stuff. The lyrics will be awful I reckon.

          • He should have done

this, and finished the band, after Be Here Now (and he knows it)

          • Look

            #1. Divorcing wife by fax.

#2. Everything the stumpy get has ever recorded.

            #3. It's Phil Collins.

            #4. Singing Drummers (Misterlee aside)

            • ..

i reckon it would be pretty good. Obviously not up to Talk TOnight standards but he's still done some pretty cool acoustic tunes recently like 'Who put the weight of the world..'

            • ryan adams

              is not very good

              • Not anymore

He stopped writing them all after Be Here Now when he realised that he could only write the same kind of song again and again - ie. the accoustic ballad or the heavier song.

The problem with Oasis is that when they first started they had soul and something to say, a point to prove (ie. to leave Manchester and better themselves). So many of the early songs are about leaving the city, looking for a better life etc. Then they did it, became millionaire rock stars and then had nothing whatsoever left to say at all apart from bored cliches and ripping off their own songs!!

              • "Parker?"

                "Yes m'lady?"

                • You are right

                  He is great.

                    He's not Peter Gabriel

                    • how come

the hip hop bling bling world of r'n'b and scroats has a massive fasination with phil collins?

Claiming he would move to Switzerland if Labour got elected.

                      • Yes!

I look forward to this album. The thing I can't stand about Oasis is Liam. Noel is the only talent in the band. All Liam can do is sing badly and play the tambourine. Noel seems much more down to earth.

                      • Noel Gallagher

apparently has only written 97 out 0f 114 tracks for oasis so far.
