I gag over the Howling Bells

self-titled one. They sound good and look impressive to boot.

yes

the MSTU album is lovely. Great album.

are they supporting

das wanderlust on tuesday?

or have i just made that up?

yes yes they are

well, nat and kev are (original lineup before the rest of the band were added to develop the sound) playing anyway. it should be good, are you coming??

i think so

three pounds should be well worth it. hopefully i might be able to talk one of my housemates along.

if not i'll risk this one on my own.

maybe

band of horses. but overall not a strong year for debuts as far as i've heard, and especially compared to the few years previous

hmmm

tokyo police club e.p. was just stunning, victoria english gentlemens club ditto, sailplanes e.p. was a vey different listen in a good way, erm, does silversun pickups carnavas count?

oh and the cutting pink album, technically not their first but their debut did sound like someone falling down the stairs, swearing a lot, climbing back up, tripping over their dog AGAIN, falling down stairs, etc. in other words, it wasn't a proper album reeeaaallyyy...

Islands

although I find it difficult to actually consider it to be a debut. Same with Sunset Rubdown, until I realised it wasn't one at all. Other than that, probably Band of Horses, but it hardly blew me away; I just thought it was a good, solid album.

guillemots

for the first time in ages nearly every new release i've bought this year has been by someone who already had albums out.

nearly everyone new i'm recommended seems to be either same-old screamy/spazzy post-hardcore/whatever shallow pish, libertines aping talentless tuneless cack or endless unoriginal identikit post-rock tedium

maybe i need some new friends

Yeah, it's definitely one of my favourites.

I love her voice so much.
