I don't actually know that much Bowie apart from the singles

but "Andy Warhol" is the first one that springs to mind. I can't listen to it on headphoens without my jaw dropping.

kooks or queen bitch

I will go for Queen Bitch

I love almost all of Hunky Dory

but "Kooks" always puts my teeth on edge a little bit, I'm not sure why. I think it's a bit too knowingly twee.

TVC 15!

my favourite is

five years, closely followed by queen bitch

lets dance

always crashing in the same car

.

station to station
5 years
subterraneans
heroes (aphex twin remix)
ashes to ashes
oh you pretty things

.

Life on Mars
Golden Years
Suffragette City

I've not heard that Aphex Twin remix

has it been released anywhere?

26 remixes for cash

my answers: basically the first half of low, life on mars, john im only dancing, ashes to ashes, repetition, cracked actors, other stuff

Blue Jean!

The chorus, anyway. If only the verses had been as good as the chorus, it would have been the greatest song ever :(

Ashes To Ashes

Starman
Fame
Fashion
Kooks
Let's Dance
Sound & Vision
Little Wonder (yes, really)
New Killer Star (yes, really)

Laughing Gnome

space oddity

i also like ashes to ashes

Heroes

If there is an instrumental version of that anywhere, could someone point it out to me?

I forgot Heroes.

When ironically that is far and away his single best song.

my personal faves are

'Five Years'
'Life On Mars?'

and even though it's a little bit cheesy I love 'Absolute Beginners'.

Modern Love

or John Im Only Dancing

That, itseducational,

is a brilliant list! I guess I'd stick on 'Blackout' from heroes, and probably all of 'Station to Station'. But whoa! Way to go.

wawaweewa!

starman
suffragette city
a new career in a new town <-- ace!
golden years
heroes

and that one off extras

...

Little fat man who sold his soul
Little fat man who sold his dreams
Chubby little loser...

Cygnet Committee

Such an underrated tune..

erm.

Space Oddity
The Man Who Sold The World
Ziggy Stardust.
John, I'm Only Dancing
Afraid

Re above

the story goes he cried like a baby after recording that...I guess his own song overwhelming him, which would be awfully goddamn pretenious if it were anyone else.

.

Andy Warhol
Heroes
all of StationtoStation
John I'm Only Dancing
Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing

.

Starman
Five Years
Andy Warhol
Kooks
Bring Me The Disco King
Everyone Says 'Hi'

lots more. The whole Low album, which doesn't work so well when you think of it as a collection of individual songs.

Heart's Salty Lesson

innit.

Drive In Saturday

Life On Mars
Time
The Cygnet Committee
Heroes

Some of the Outside tracks are the best live ones

ie Hearts Filthy Lesson, The Motel, Hallo Spaceboy. True. You don't go to the gig thinking that you really want to here them but they blow you away when they come on.

Top3

Cracked Actor
Hallo Spaceboy (original version)
China Girl

I actually like his early stuff

from when he sounded like Anthony Newley. "Laughing Gnome" period, if you like. It's easy to laugh at, but some of the songs are really really charming. And I've got a great video of him doing mime to versions of "Rubber Band" and stuff like that
