The Long Blondes: Someone to Drive You Home
I found this first album by the LBs to be most enjoyable, full of wry humour, regret, compassion and sassiness.Every track's good, really,my fave being "Lust In The Movies",for its classiness and wit("I feel quite ill-I've got this rattling in my chest-and the doctor says that I should give you up because I'm clinically obssessed").As for lead singer Kate,we've been a long time waiting for a smart stylish intelligent female style icon like her.Too long!
It's also good to be able to read the lyrics clearly on the CD sleeve for once, instead of straining one's eyes to make out the spidery print which is the hallmark of so many bands'lyrics on the inserts of their CDs.
In fact,I would stick my neck out here and go so far as to say that I wouldn't be at all surprised if this debut album didn't go Gold very soon.
A very very pleasurable listen!
