Lyle's forgotten bands of the 90s : part 9

A "big" one this time, with 2 albums on a major in the 90s and 2 albums on Cooking Vinyl in the early 00s : ac acoustics.
Never understood why they didn't gain a 'cult' indie status like Urusei Yatsura...

  • good band

will have to listen when i get home

  • Did they

release four albums? Wow. I loved 'I Messiah, Am Jailer'. What a song.

    I think I'm on 4/9 now.

    • at least I have 4 albums...

      Maybe they released more...
'I messiah' is indeed ace !

  • ya!

hmmm yeah, great band. I remember them being fantastic at a half empty Camden Underworld

    • good choice!

they were bloody amazing for a while. 'able treasury', and their first peel session, i listened to incessantly.

'hand passes plenty', 'stunt girl', 'i messiah, am jailer', all great singles.

have you mentioned prolapse in this series yet lyle?

      • no

        and I probably won't !

      • Stunt Girl

That was a fixture on of all my compilation tapes for a while. Great song.

  • Yes!

I recognise this! I even have a song of theirs.

    • I always got them confused with the tindersticks.

      Why? I have no idea.

      • they certainly had

        nothing in common !

        • the lead

singer presents / presented some tv show up in scotland , summat about fishing i do believe - but double yay !! great band

hand passes plenty is one of my all time fav songs -

          • further proof

that having an indie band can lead you to anything...

            • AC Acoustics were ace!

Although they never really lived op to the promise that was their second album.

Still, pretty damn good none the less. I'm gonna listen to them right now!

              • yeah !

                That's the spirit !

  • I remember!

Though I only remember whichever album it was that had Stunt Girl on it. They were actually one of the bands at my first ever gig (the others being Madder Rose and My Life Story, as I've probably mentioned here before).
