the other day on MTV and I have never seen so much fret-wanking in all my life.
In the vid they split the screen into 3 sections and zoomed in on both guitarists who were performing speedy and complicated solos for about 4 minutes.
As they did so they flicked their long hair about. I genuinely thought it was something from twenty years ago and was pissing myself laughing.

But then, I can't be too hard on you - the first time I heard them, I laughed, hard. Then I thought it might be serious and started to hate them. Then I listened again, heard the lyrics and was told about the gig my mate went to where every member of the band had their own riser - with a trampoline in the middle so they could bounce around from platform to platform, often in the middle of a ridiculous solo.
I quite like them now. I still can't listen to the whole album though.
I think of them as a parody of Dream Theater.

There's no mileage in it, but what the hell... as I've said before, I admire their technical skills and sense of fun. The songs get samey after a while, but I'd rather watch a bunch of guys jumping around to samey songs than a bunch of guys staring at their feet to samey songs.

why people get so wound up about Dragonforce.
It's the same as when "serious" dance music fans would look down their noses at teenagers going nuts to happy-hardcore at Helter Skelter ten years ago. John Peel was about the only person who ever stuck up for them.
Dragonforce are ludicrous but I would much rather go and see them than yet another bunch of boys who've recently discovered the Touch and Go back catalogue.

you have a seriously negative reaction to Dragonforce, you should take a long look at yourself and realise you may be inclined to be a funless twat, yes its overblown metal but so what. Look its ok to like this stuff it won't loose you any indie points. Their videos kill me with the whole duelling guitars thing, not really a joke band at all they do mean it, it kind of makes it better that way.

They originally come out of the black metal scene and combine elements from lots of different kinds of extreme metal and a dollop of euro-cheese.
