The Bronx

so i bought their second album t'other day and i quite like it. But I've heard that it's not a patch on their first album.

Is this true? I only bought the album on a whim, having not really known much about them, and as I'm not made of money I only really want to get the first album if someone convinces me that it's an essential purchase.

Advise me, bitches!

  • !

I couldn't get into the second album. I mean, I never wanted a first album repeat (I was going to say "I never wanted a Bronx II but that technically what we did get") but this album, other than a maybe two tracks wasn't the Bronx I fell in love with.

I was surprised it got Rock Sound album of the year to be honest...

  • I still quite like the second one,

but it's not a patch on the first one, which is one of the best punk albums ever.

    • promise me you're not exaggerating there

if i buy it and don't like it I'm blaming you

      • I'm not exaggerating.

        Promise.

        • i agree with all the praise above

the first album is insanely good :D:D:D:D:D

  • BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT

    :D

    • Yeah

You should definately buy the first album.

I do like the second album though, thinks its great!

first album is awesome, they are amazing live as well!

      • they're playing FROG soonish

        I'm there

        • yes!

          they rock like few else.

        • awesome

that'll be after the Biffy support show at the astoria then. could well be a great show as i think they work better in a shorter set - the one at the Islington Academy last year felt like it dragged on a bit, so a strict 1/2 hour time limit would do them good!

          -> count me in!

          • Seeing them for the 2nd time when they play with Biffy...

            tis' going to be mental

            • And me :D

Roll on the 20th, day after Blood Brothers at the same venue!

  • on one hand

    people say it's shit

    on the other

it's more people's favourite album of the year

go with the majority, ignore the cynics

  • I do love the first one

Very good for an angry stomp around the bedroom.
"I'M TIRED OF SHOWING UP FOR FUCKING WORK, TAKING ORDERS FROM A FUCKING BITCH!"
    Poetry, that.

  • 2nd album is great

it took a while to grow on me, and i still think they've turned the guitars down a bit or something.

there's more melody on the 2nd album, which is great, but i still prefer the bombast and dog-bark-vocals of the first.

  • The second album

is wonderful. When I heard 'White Guilt' live last year at Islington I couldn't stop smiling and singing.

The first is a real kick in the teeth though, and one of the bet slices of punk rock i've heard. Looking forward to seeing them again on the Kerrang tour, it's going to be fucking mental.

    • *best.

d'oh. Damn my late night drinking :(

  • *Echo's Praise*

Hah, I picked up the 1st album when they supported lostprophets years ago.

It took the 'faux rock' out of me and left a fucking attitude.

    • I listened to the second album before the first

and I think I would have enjoyed it a lot less had I done it the other way round. Listen to the second record in its own right and it's a fantastic, angry rock album, the kind of stuff that numerous more tired rock bands should be doing now. However, if you compare it to the first album, which is just the most superb, straight up, no bullshit punk you've ever heard, it's easy to see how they can be criticised for 'losing their edge'.

Still, I love both albums, and I cannot WAIT until the tour with Biffy.
