My Bloody Valentine

I've just discoverd My Bloody Valentine and I'm feeling very smug. But my friends are evil Maroon 5 and Usher fans who like to label all bands I like as "shite". Should I kick them in the eye or just keep smiling smugly whenever they're discussing the latest Limp Bizkit single? I'm really confused...

  • Re: My Bloody Valentine

Just smile smugly. The whole point of being into indie is to be elitist and better than everyone else. In fact, I doubt ever ever ever encourage people to listen to my favourite bands. They are mine and mine only.
  • Re: My Bloody Valentine

Play them Loveless and tell them it's the advance copy of the new Limp Bizkit record. Only tell them the truth once they love it already and are hooked.
    • Re: My Bloody Valentine

To quote Magneto, "You are a god, they are insects".
  • Re: My Bloody Valentine

    My Bloody Valentine are amazing.

Kick them all in both eyes, then burn their rubbish ears off.

Sounds like u need some new friends.
    • Re: My Bloody Valentine

I only found them out this year too and I'm 27!
I felt ashamed when I heard how good Loveless is
      • Re: My Bloody Valentine

Better late then never I say.
And yeah I really should diss all my shit-music-loving friends but that's about all my friends... I say thank god for my brother who I've managed to teach something about music. Now he's really into Bright Eyes and we're even seeing him together in february. Blood definetly runs thicker than water.
        • Re: My Bloody Valentine

Maybe you could try a mash-up of Loveless and the new Usher album.

But yes, My Bloody Valentine are fucking mint and yes, Maroon 5 are disgusting. Check out Slowdive too, if you're down with MBV.
  • Re: My Bloody Valentine

Hmm. MBV or Maroon 5 and Usher? Ooo, that's a tough one! Tell you what, though Bets86 - your friends ain't never gonna get it, so don't bother. It's been more than ten years since MBV were, um, MBV and those of us in-the-know (or some proximity thereof) still worship Isn't Anything and Loveless. No one will remember Usher's music in a year. That sort of shite is for twelve year old girls and little boys in short pants.
    • Re: My Bloody Valentine

Thank you for the encouraging words OceanRain! But Usher is a bit tricky one to ignore I must say... A dark alley, a baseball bat and a promise I wouldn't get caught and I definetley would.
  • Re: My Bloody Valentine

    Do you know 'Curve'?
They are great, MBV influenced, with more electronic noises.
    Gothtronica!
    It's great.
    get "Doppelganger".
    • Re: My Bloody Valentine

Ah...I'd heard of them, didn't realise they're like that. Sweet...shall check em oot.
      • Re: My Bloody Valentine

MBV is on my list of albums to buy if and when i see them cheap.
        • Re: My Bloody Valentine

Well done - good luck finding more 'Shite' bands if MBV are anything to go by. Now you just need to work out a way to either turn your friends to the light side or ensure they get nasty frostbite!
