Slash and burn: Velvet Revolver rubbish Rubin

Velvet Revolver have revealed why they axed Rick Rubin from production duties on their new album.

The band began recording with the big-name producer last year, but replaced him with Brendan O'Brien who frontman Scott Weiland had worked with previously in Stone Temple Pilots.

Talking to LRN, Weiland revealed the reasons for the split:

"If you're gonna work with a producer, unless you're gonna produce something yourselves, if you're gonna pay a producer, get in the trenches with us and work with us.

"The Rick thing didn't work out, and, you know, he was working on a couple of other things, Metallica and U2, and so we kind of became very uninspired."

The record in question, provisionally titled Libertad, is scheduled for release around late April/early May.

Fair enough

Rick Rubin doesn't care about Velvet Revolver. Join the club Rick!

dude...

...he's rapping over Fugazi at the start there! best thing ever??

closed captioned

that the song?

yeah

best thing ever!

jayzuz

thats one of my favourite songs ever

That statement from Scott Weiland

infuses the word "incoherent" with a whole new depth of meaning.

rubin had other things on his mind...

He's waiting on H from Steps to leave Big brother and record a comeback single that will make Rubin literally hundreds of pence more than ver revolver...

I think, what he was trying to say was

"Rick didn't show up so we got someone who would"

I think that's his style now though innit?

Either doing nothing or stroking his beard. He produced Reign in Blood so doesn't need to prove himself anymore. U2 and Metallica will net him loads more cash too.

Tosh

Gramatically thats possibly the worst quotation from DIS ever.

Makes himself sound like more of a tool than the fatty from The Gossip

I will assume Weiland is stupid rather than being on drugs when the statement was taken.

Still, if you think the producer couldnt care less about your album, i'd boot him off, and be a lot more verbal in my abuse towards him than

"we kind of became very uninspired"

Velvet Revolver - They are Soooo Rock!

^nb^

Sarcasm Intended

Stupid or Off His Face?

With Weiland it's probably safe to assume he was wasted. He might be dumb as well, i don't know, but he's been round the court/rehab circuit so many times he makes Doherty look like a rank amateur.

You could also argue that it's far more "Rawk!" to be off your tits and babbling than it is to give perfectly poised, witty and verbose interviews. And as for the music, it's not my cup of tea but it's clearly rock.

You do realise that you've made a grammatical error/misunderstanding in the sentence in which you criticise someone else's grammar, yes?

Keiths Gramma

Yes.

It was supposed to be witty, but subtle.
I am glad someone of your intellect picked up on it. Good Work!

Yes, it is far more "Rawk!" to be off your face.
If you are off your face though, please, please, dont say you were disappointed or uninspired, say you were fucked off with the cocksucker. That, would be "RAWCKKKKK!!!!"

I get it

At least they can pull it off whe they are "off their face". Doherty just keels over & I can't respect someone who wraps themselves in that imagery yet is unable to funtion properly.

I understood the comment, they were basically pushed aside in favour of bigger bands. Fair enough.
