Somewhere, right now, a teenager’s ceiling is falling in to the sound of ‘Shitty Future’.

One of the highlights on The Bronx’s second self-titled album of last year, these two minutes are an echo of the Californians’ earlier material: pissed-off, prickly and quite possibly bad for your health, it blasts through the listener like a high-speed tank through a giant game of Jenga. Bricks everywhere, children in tears; teenagers of the nation pogo-ing in perfect harmony.

Those old enough to appreciate the pleasure of listening to music while sitting down, keep your ears away from ‘Shitty Future’; those with knee joints that don’t yet squeak when you walk at pace, climb atop your mattress and let yourself go.

Few rock singles this year will be as immediate, as catchy and as good as this. It’s just a shame that so few of The Bronx’s newest songs are of a comparable quality.

and don't forget

it's got that 'HUH!' bit at the beginning. :) Great track.

Bronx are such lovely chaps

every time I've met them they've been really nice; up for a chat and a piccie!

Agree the new stuff sounds best live.

i had to get in the moshpit for this

at their recent islington academy show.

I'm way too old/wimpy for the moshpit.

but it is such a choon!

Love the new album

but see where you are coming from.
All the songs sound amazing live though. Agree?

ilost...

my mate at the Biffy/Bronx gig in brum. He was hanging out with the singer of the Bronx that night. Bastard.

This is a great song! And the 'huh' bit just adds to it's appeal. Rock on man, rock on.

This song could be

the best song QOTSA never wrote. It's fucking great.

not really a single is it?

OOOONE LAST TIME OUR SHITTY FUTURE

Never would have thought looking at them

that they'd rock like a turbo-compressed version of the mighty 'Flag. Punk Rock like a punch in the face!

I love

How surprisingly agile their singer is around the stage. He moves swifter than I could, and Im a young strappling in my prime :)

WITH NEON LIGHTS FOR BRAINS

"...the best song QOTSA never wrote."

That was my initial reaction to the track too, if only because of the very Homme-esque and already-mentioned "HUH" at the start :)

I too have happy gig memories of this song, as it gave me an excuse to go fucking mental soon after arriving at one of the Kerrang tour dates, ploughing through waves of confused emo dipshits in the process and finding myself in a nice position from which to enjoy the rest of the show.

Good

times.
