Sheffield's most indie-poppin' of kids Arctic Monkeys - they must've done their mocks by now - have confirmed a handful of details about their much-anticipated second album.

Favourite Worst Nightmare is to be released via Domino on April 23; a single, 'Brianstorm', will preceded the album by a week. Seven whole days. Yup.

Tracklisting? You got it! Straight from the label's mouth, this is...

'Brianstorm'
'Teddy Picker'
'D Is For Dangerous'
'Balaclava'
'Fluorescent Adolescent'
'Only Ones Who Know'
'Do Me A Favour'
'This House Is A Circus'
'If You Were There, Beware'
'The Bad Thing'
'Old Yellow Bricks'
'505'

Arctic Monkeys have three confirmed UK live dates upcoming, which look like this:

June
22-24 Glastonbury Festival

July
28 Manchester LCCG
29 Manchester LCCG

April 23rd

right. im going to be going somewhere VERY FAR AWAY then.

oo!

i hate arctic monkeys because they're popular!

i'm SO INDIE.

if that was directed at me...

i just dont like any music of that nature. (ie pub/lad-rock with little originality).

You're fucking kidding me!

They didn't even give the nation a standard years break from them. They'll be clogging up the music channels and radio stations all over again. Bastards. At least the Kaiser Chiefs had the common courtesy to dissapear for a year or so.

look on the bright side

if this album is shite, then they will have collapsed considerably quicker than the kaiser Cheifs.

that's not a good thing!

arctic monkeys>shaizer queefs (olol)

yeah who do they think they are?

don't they know that musicians who actually feel the desire to write and record music on a regular basis are a thing of the past, and that modern artists are supposed to be uninspired lazy tossers who are using music primarily as a career plan and a way to get cheap sex? fuck off. dylan was releasing two albums per year at one point. rem released an album a year for a six-year period in the eighties

Yeah,

but Dylan & R.E.M. had talent ;-p

Seriously though, it means Domino will get loads of money to spend on artists I might like, so good on 'em.

lol

'do me a favour'

Well, I hope the music will

be better than the album and first single titles. But I'm very much looking forward to finding out.

Looking forward to this.

...will probably be good, but not as good as their first. Also, it clearly won't sell anywhere near as well due to the inverse relationship between a band's popularity and sales amongst the muso crowd.

yeah

they got a record deal. so they've sold out.

in fact, they sold out more or less the moment they decided to form a band.

...

Why so defensive? They may be the-band-you-mostest-love-in all-the-whole-wide-world but you could at least have the restraint to wait for criticism before you leap to their defence, no?

heehee!

'Brian'

I hope its good.

As people, I don't have a problem with them. Turner was an arrogant, crap performer at Leeds festival...

...But I'd love it if this record is absolutely superb. I want to be proved wrong. We need a consistently quality band, and to be honest, it won't be hard to surpass their first.

Brilliant...

I can't wait! Whatever People Say I Am Thats What I'm Not is such an amazing album, and I'm sure Favourite Worst Nightmare will be too.

Some people are

oh so fashionable on here.

I am confident it will be a superb record.

!

I'm actually looking forward to this. Awesome.

This is going to suck

But it's going to be really popular and everyone else is going to really like it.

Ever think us indie elitists are, in fact, the ones who are wrong?

Irrespective

of the music, they really do have a terrible taste in names.

Fluorescent Adolescent!

sounds new-rave-tastic to me!

Its a brave move

releasing a follow up record so quick, its gonna be interesting to see how it goes down.

Yeah...

It has been a very short amount of time since their 1st album. But its still long awaited in my eyes lol. I can only hope it lives up to expectations!

wow

it's suprising how predictable this is, two albums in about 16 months, gotta keep the kids happy i spose, can't possibly let them fade into crappy MOR existance - oh, wait..

well

the 6 tracks I've heard are harder, less commercial and actually quite good. But they stand no chance as they've ditched the tunes, which means less radio, which means everyone will see the album as a failure, even though creatively it may actually be a load better than the first record. unfortunately doomed
