You are very touchy about music made by girls, though...to the point where I think you believe everyone who doesn't immediately LOVE music made by 'a girl'- such as Emmy The Great ( who I think is OKAY, just not amazing)- is a misogynist, and I'm not, it's just that I've been spoiled by lots of amazing old school music made by women- Catherine Howe, Judee Sill, Wendy and Bonnie...
Rant over ;)
Check out Wendy and Bonnie- lovely, lush album made in '68 by a seventeen year old and thirteen year old pair of sisters- and self written too- its a total GEM.
More lushness- I'd recommend a load of sunshine pop, I think- Harpers Bizarre- 4, anything by The Association, Free Design, Cowsills- I had a bit of a phase lapping up that sorta stuff in the summer, and its just beautiful. But old. So if you were looking for strictly 'now' sounds, don't bother.
.
could anybody please direct me towards the "girls being hot so their music not mattering" thread please? i'd be quite interested to read it. thank you.
Asobi Sesku
