Geoff Rickley from Thursday was a very nice guy, had a photo with him and everything.

Also, Aereogramme are lovely people, was speaking to them for a while at a gig.

Simple as.

hmm

andy burrows from razorlight
ryan jarman form the cribs was a nice chap
and the singer from good shoes

Good Shoes

singer goes by the name of rhys and is indeed a lovely man, he wrote on a postcard that he loved me. swoon.

Hmm..

Seymour Glass from Miss Black America
Patrick Wolf seemed friendlier than I expected.

...

Peter (Duke Special) and his percussionist Chip are utter diamonds

Thee More Shallows are a lovely bunch of guys

Jeremy Warmsley was lots of fun to tour with

Kid Carpet's a very nice bloke too

plus loads of other, less well known musicians...

* joke

iLiKETRAiNS were really nice

they wouldent let me in to a gig a while back, so the band offered me dvds and t shirts.
I politely declined, as i knew the show was 18+ anyway, so it was kinda my fault.

Sonic Boom!

..

I had him stay at my house. he was VERY weird. not un-nice, but I certainly felt a lot more relaxed when he left!!

I have had him be both nice and not nice to me.

But he generally seemed vague and harmless.

iLiKETRAINS are nice

and so are I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness

Aidan Moffat

Stuart Braithwaite

Both very charming. Must be something in the water up there.

Singer from 80's MBD is personable

All of British Sea Power are nice
Planningtorock is a lovely woman
Joe Germlin & Lach of Gay Against You, bless them both
Max Tundra is a dude
Pete Doherty was witty and charming
Bearsuit are all lovely

yeah

i found Pete to be the same. This was before Up The Bracket (the single) came out though and hence probably before the fame got to his head.

Bearsuit are brilliant people, yeah, they even pretend to like me. Although i didn't get an invite to play crazy golf with them yesterday after all.

OH! and

Grandmaster Gareth :D

good bloke.

Régine Chassagne

from the arcade fire... lovely laydee...

also the girls from tilly and the wall... very chatty!

agreed ^

gareth and tom (erotic volvo) also are both nice and friendly

i don't think i've met anyone else

Joe Germlin is one of the most ridiculously polite lovely

wonde wonderful people i've ever met

And British Sea power are lovely.

I hear the people from Junkplanet are really nice too!

i dunno

i hear they're right divas. i feel like saying, lads, you can't GET blue smarties anymore! Leave the poor promoter alone!

only ever met two band people

chris from belle and sebastian, who was quiet but friendly;

(briefly) natasha (?) from bat for lashes - we complimented her and she was very smily.

That Gavin bloke from Bush

I even took them piss out of him and he was pretty nice about it.

(I only took the piss as I didn't believe it was the guy from Bush).

Aiden...

...we're really nice blokes, came and sat an had a pint with us the day they first got featured in Kerrang! They we're very proud and happy.

I met Charles from The Wrens

on Saturday. He was very nice.

bf

The bassist of The Seeds current lineup- Rick

Ahh.

Joe Birch from HIFH and Symposium was a great guy too.

the fat Robert Smith look alike from the Others

Talked to me whilst eating a banana and telling me how he was trying to eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day on tour. A lovely contrast to Dominic Masters.

and also Russell The Disaster

who was ridiculously nice to me when i was very very rude to him at truck.

If you're reading Russel I don't know what had got into me and I love you.

well

Nat and Andy from das wanderlust are pretty cool people so is henry from Dartz
so are all of the oxfam glamour models
it kinda werid realy consdering a know a lot of bands in Teesside.

Hmm.

I don't think everyone would agree with OGM being 'nice' people. They're not the easiest to get along with.

And Emmett has made a lot of enemies...

seocnded

Das Wanderlust are lovely

...

Utrillo from Comets on Fire. He remembered my name and invited my friends and I to this after show party.

Oh!

Gruff Rhys was very sweet and smily and could obviously tell i was very nervous. i try not to get starstruck, which admittedly rarely works, but it helped that we were in an inflatable church and hence had something to talk about. The rest of the band were either DJing or seemed very stoned.

uh

Most musicians I've met have turned out to be nice friendly people. The only arsehole I've ever met was Kelly Jones, but I didn't really want to meet him anyway, I was chatting with someone else and he was there.

Mogwai

Guitarist was great, we chatted for around an hour after the scheduled interview time about music and how he heckled the strokes at a club gig they did in Japan.

Keyboardist from Charlatans was nice, and the Asian dub foundation boys really cool.

my experiences with band members has geneally been great

memorable nice people include laura mary from blood red shoes, andrew ferris from jetplane, frank turner, chuck from plot to blow up the eiffel tower, the bassist and guitarist from funeral for a friend (?!), and not really band related but zane lowe, who seemed to appreciate anyone talking to him haha!

...

which one was Chuck in Plot to Blow...?

See

More MBA.

What a lovely chap...

Yes!

All of MBA are/were nice. This was MBA mark 2 though.

oh yeah dennis from refused and t(i)nc was great

tho i talked crap to him :)

Doesn't mean i like em or anything

but Jon Fretelli is a cool chap. still should not of won a brit..

Frank Turner was lovely the twice that I've met him.

Also, Jamie Lenman (Reuben) was a pleasant chap.
Seymour (MBA) was similarly nice.
The guys from Editors were also lovely.

Those were the prominent ones, anyway...

I'm probably not the best person to comment on this

given I tend to clam up and talk shite at people in bands, even when sober and knowing in the back of my mind that I'm probably more famous than at the time.

That said, words of favour must go to Carey Camera Obscura, Gwenno Pipette, Max Goodbooks and the boy JWo.

Forward Russia's

Tom hung out at our tent at Truck last year for a while with Bentley their guitar tech. Tom was nice. Bentley was quite drunk so I guess I can forgive him being annoying.

Anthony Green (and Colin) from Circa Survive wins hands down though. That was one of the best nights of my life

Frank Turner's always

been a treat to talk to. Not just nice, but very open and willing to have a proper chat about music.

All of Help She Can't Swim

Really nice people

eeerrrrmm

i know of someone who lived with them for a while and heard they were a bucnh a terrible pretentious cunts with no time for no one!
apart from maybe the bassist, he doesn't seem to have much of a personality.

...

I've never been able to get more than an "Mmm" out of him. Must be because both times I interuppted a conversation he was having with someone who cares about so I could tell him how amazing MacGyver was. Ah well.

Sucioperro = Top blokes.
Ben and Chris from Dillinger Escape Plan = Had a great conversation about shredding, they remembered me from another gig and remarked on how impressive my rocking out was. Top blokes.

you met DEP and they remembered you?

you clearly RULE! spot on!

Darren Hayman was extremely nice when I met him

which was good 'cos I was star-stuck and gibbering like a twat.

I like Thomas Truax immensely - he seems quite a quiet shy chap but the first time I met him he started a random conversation about absolutely nothing when we were stood at adjacent urinals. I like people who do that kind of thing.

However the nicest is certainly Ian, the guitarist from Death in Vegas, who is probably the most ridiculously nice person I've ever encountered (although Terry the keyboardist from DiV isn't far off)

ah -

you've met duke special, theo fact_fan? i'm going to see him at ULU on wednesday.

nima and alex from hush the many are both really cool people,
jeremy warmsley and emmy the great are top banana,
rose kemp i liked when i met her,
neil hannon i had a nice conversation about birthdays with,
max goodbooks had good things to say about my poetry which was nice,
tim ten yen is a lovely, lovely man,
the singer from neatpeople i liked,
anton barbeau is an unassuming sort,
jack penate was nice,
and scroobius pip is a legend.

didn't particularly take too kindly to jamie t.

oh...

joel gibb is an odd one - nice to talk to if you get him on the subject of his art work, but a bit intense - but the rest of the hidden cameras are supersuperlovely.

ashley from tunng is also pretty cool.

just one more!

chris t-t is really really nice and another legend.

Definitely.

Of those ones I've met and can back you up on...

Nima and Alex do seem to be lovely people. I met them at an open mic thing yonks ago and had a chat with them. It was weird 'cos it wasn't 'til I heard 'em on Radio 1 a few months later I realised they were in any way succesful.

Emmy the Great was the first person to ever comment on Myspace, and has always seemed pretty nice the few times I've met her.

I've only ever had a brief conversation with Tim Ten Yen but he seemed happy to answer a question about the MP3 player he uses on stage and seeemd nice.

I wasn't sure about Max Goodbooks the first couple of times I met him (he's a friend of a friend) but I've met him a couple of times since he does seem a really likable guy.

I've played on the same night as Scroobius Pip a couple of times at the Spoonful of Poison at the Rhythm Factory but don't think I've ever actually spoken to him.

i may have asked tim ten yen the same question...

I think Nima Hush the Many has a genuine claim on being the nicest man in music, actually.

I must get to a Paul Hawkins gig sometime. He's not a bad bloke, either. He said nice things to me online once.

Nima may well have that claim

I saw him again about a year after we'd met for the first and only time. He recognised me immediately, gave me a big hug and told me how much he liked my music which was pretty sweet of him.

Do come to a Paul Hawkins gig. He's probably quite a decent guy although he has an annoying habit of talking about himself in the 3rd person on internet messageboards.

Although in fairness

the nice things Paul Hawkins said about you, whilst entirely meant ("All my Cats are Dead" is a fantastic poem that everyone should listen to at least once), were at least in part motivated by you saying nice things about him first!

I'm scared this thread is getting overly pleasant. Help!

it's a back-scratcher's world, dawg

Nothing I say is sincere and I'm actually a cunt.

Sorry.

That's okay.

I never ever compliment anyone unless I'm after something in return.

Actually this isn't true*

*Probably.

I don't think I've ever met a not nice musician

Charles and Kevin from The Wrens were both really friendly, Goodbooks were all good blokes, Emmy the Great's sweet, Hutch and Kathy from The Thermals were both really nice. Having said that, Kathy did get a little bit wound up towards the end of the interview ("Erm... Can you go now?"), but that's possibly because I'd stepped just the wrong side of the "slightly stalkerish fan" line.

I'm too embarrassed to say.

They might end up reading this and get an ego or something. I've never met anyone I disliked.

Blood Red Shoes were good company

Laura told a brief anecdote about cleaning windows

Actually since Traynor's posting on here...

I'll mention Ninki_V (I'm not sure if anyone else would be familar with her).

I played a gig with her last year and she struck me as an exceptionally nice person.

iliketrains, redjetson, YMSS

for the brits. mike kinsella, holy fuck, jeniferever for the non-brits. all lovely.

Olly from Johnny Truant is one of the most genuine and affable man i've ever spoken to

Which is nice, otherwise i might not have continued loving his band

Andrew Ferris

from Jetplane Landing is probably the nicest man in rock. Frank Turner has always been nothing but nice as was Jamie Reuben when I met him. The guys from Biffy Clyro were all really friendly too, especially the drummer. yourcodenameis:milo have always been welcoming and up for a chat with me too.

Brian Molko was an utter cunt and he stole my pen.

David Holmes was a bigger cunt and punched me in the face.

I agree about Andy Burrows

He is lovely, Borrell isn't though (to state the obvious) - I was meant to interview him when I was 15 and he said no due to how old I was, the cunt.

Tom Vek is very nice, Tom and Ed from Editors are, as are The SubwaysThe Magic Numbers were very funny and nice (I went on their tourbus and they showed me videos of the drummer jumping naked from a hotel balcony into a lake!! They were also somewhat hypocritical - the week before they'd got arsy about Richard Bacon calling them a "big fat melting pot of talent", yet on their tourbus they had literally dozens of bowls of crisps and chocolate!!)

I think Borrell is the only cunty musician I have ever met.

NB

Not saying the other two out of Editors aren't nice, I've just not met those ones.

i think it goes whithout saying

that borrell is a total asshole

Good guys

Barry from the Futureheads.
Andy from New young pony club.
Joe from Shitdisco.
Keith from We are scientists.
Alex from Franz.
All of the Mystery jets, young knives and The Needles ;-)

All good dudes.

Bizzarely enough can't think of and nice females I've met on my musical travels..
Charlotte from Subways maybe but the rest were all mooody or really quiet.

Maybe they couldn't be fuked talkin to me..........can't really blame 'em.

these people are all lovely

jonah matranga (far, gratitude, new end original, onelinedrawing, solo)
ian love (rival schools, cardia, solo)
frank turner (million dead, solo)
grandaddy
the killers - no really! they let me and friend in for free at a show they were playing at fibbers and were really humble that we even wanted to see them

oh i forgot

mastodon and reuben both lovely as well

Jason from Grandaddy

Was really moody with me

Matt Davies from FFAF...

Win Butler from Arcade Fire
Matt Caughthran from The Bronx
Tom from Forward Russia

are all ace

aaron from delays

was nice. i believe he let me try on his hat for a photo. i may have been a bit drunk, as i was in italy where wine flowed like a river. i then went bowling (not with anyone from delays)

Mike Watt

was very amiable at ATP-whatever-year-it-was-the-Minutemen (or Mike and George) played. He warned me and my fella not to sit up by the wall downstairs 'cos he saw someone puking there not long before, and was happy to have a little chat.

Regina Spektor

She was really sweet when I met her the other day.
