pretty simple really. Me and some friends want to go for some cocktails before we go out on saturday. A place where they don't charge ludicrous amounts for cocktails would be nice as well.

My favourite places for cocktails are

Prague on Shoreditch High Street (about £5.95)

and the OXO Tower on the South Bank (about £8.50)

I doubt either of these is actually suitable for you. They make nice cocktails though.

I thought he meant SOHO.

Whoops. See my post below.
Prague is like an extension of my living room...
I think the Jazz Bar in Dalston is also marvellous for martinis... Oh yesh. See vvvv

Me too.

Hence why mine were unsuitable.

:)

Me too!

My friend has been to the OXO tower

a few times so she wants to go somewhere different. But thanks for the tips anyway.

You will be hard pressed to find decent priced cocktails on a Sat night at a 'nice' venue... Alas, I can only think of very expensive venues (sorry) but in terms of cheaper, try The Player on Berwick St. It's a private members bar but if you get there earlier, you can get in for nix and without hassle. Also, try Vodka Revolution, an awful place on St Ann's Place in Soho but well, again, cheapish vodkas and will be bearable if you are there early.
Umm... Cocktails... Hmmmmm..... LAB on Dean Street is London Academy of Bartenders - actually, GO HERE. It's cheap, they pour amazing cocktails and it's not bad. Well, it used to be ok about six years ago.
Failing that, hook up with some rich people and go to Circus or Opium, or AKBAR.
It's been awhile since I've been a cocktail bar chick...
Actually, The Jazz Bar in Dalston do AMAZING cocktails... Hmm... Apple Martinis ROOL, ok?
Good luck.

If LAB hasn't changed

in the 6 years since you have last been there then that sounds dead good. I didn't know there was an academy of bartenders.

Was in LAB last year

Still great, I recommend.

Its well central as well

Lab is ace

but doesn't really fit the criteria for not charging ludicrous amounts as is $$$$

Nah - £7 a cocktail

Thats not too shabby for a Soho bar.

Given the amount of time and effort they put into each one as well, I would say they are well worth it

Lab

is great. And if you're a girl you can sit at the bar and perv at the fit cocktail makers as they do their thing.

Thirst

on Greek Street is quite nice, it's tiny but I really like the cocktails. I don't know about at the weekend but they have good offers in the week.

LAB - Old Compton Street

Thats place is amazing, and not too pricey if remember rightly

I stole an ashtray from there once

upon a time. It was the best looking thing I've ever seen. I had a nice collection of uber cool ashtrays from places but lost them in the house split. My ex doesn't even smoke. Ass.

I stole a menu - twice

They stop handing them out in there now - just photocopies

haha

are people supposed to sympathise when you stole them in the first place? :-P

There's a place with a brazilian name

like Guanabar or something just off Drury Lane, litterally next to the new London Theatre.

Their cocktails are baaaaaaazerk, and very well priced. You also get to drink them in the remnaints of an old theatre!

gracias

hello!

Point 101 does half price ones - this is by tott ct road station.

Oxegen on L. sq does good ones too.

Vesbar in shepherds bush does decent ones

Anam on chapel market in Angel too....!

i just realised i spelt oxegen like the damn festival

it's Oxygen like, the gas - and you can also buy it there in shots. as in, shots of oxygen.

I know where that is!

Its right behind the main square isn't it?

yep yep

it has really nice sofas upstairs - get there early tho to get a seat as they're quite limited. they do jugs of cocktails, i can't remember when happy hour is but... google it

National

Portrait Gallery has a bar that does cocktails and the view is great. can get a bit busy though.

that would be fantastic

NPG= My favourite gallery in London.

They all sound great

Do them all in one night!!!!

FREVD

FLYING SCOTSMAN

On York Way.

the only place I know

is the rainforest cafe. think it's on shaftesbury avenue. Apparently it's ethical too. Liek, save the rainforests and that.

Thanks everyone!!

I shall let you know on monday which one I chose, and how drunk I got in said bar.

Cocktails?!

I like cocktails.

Cocomo in Old St does nice ones, have no idea how much they are tho.

And that's not very central :)
