Cover letter for a job

What font do you all recommend? I'm currently swaying towards Times New Roman (12pt). Also, should I sign it?

It's been ages since I've done one of these.

times new roman

good

signing

good

I hate Times New Roman

Use Arial?
or Tahoma?
Verdanna??

i agree hannah

times can look a little bit like you are trying to be an intellectual writery type. this causes problems when applying for cleaning jobs.

y'know i said TNR

but i don't think that's what mine is in. maybe. errrrrm

Is that...?

It can't be?!

I got told at school to hand write

cover letters for job applications.

It was about 10 years ago though.

ariel

TNR
comic sans?

ariel or times new roman

font 11 or 12

or comic sans ms if you don't actually want the job.

I think it looked fine

And yes. Sign it.

I like courier new

because it looks type-written, and film noir-ish.

I use Gil Sans MT

and 11 or 12, depends on how much I've got to write.

Gill Sans MT

Is my favourite font too! Yeah!!

yeah!

it's ace.

and

your address top right and their address on the left below that. Is that correct?

no

i mean yes

correct

if you lined it up nicely you could use a window envelope!

Arial 10 or 12pt depending on how much info

you have in the letter. Nicely spaced out. TNR is old skool, babe.... Go Arial.
Good Luck
x

comic sans ms

size 16
signed
with a kiss.

seriously though, size 10, arial.

10?!

Make sure you include glasses with your application!!

their address left

your address right
date below

make sure to sign :)

one more thing

should job titles be capitalised?

no -

in bold

yes

they should.

as in Production Assistant

not the whole thing!

it's

development co-ordinator.

Should I put Development Co-ordinator?

yes

Yes.

that's what i thought he meant!

me = dumbass

i was about to say,

"typical bobbygeorge, never finishing a thread"

are you supposed to

finish a thread you start?

no

hang on just one minute

are we to assume that you are applying for a job?

nah

just trying to liven up the forum.

way to go

I reckon Arial 10pt

11 at a push.

.actually I mean Georgia

but that's better for webstuff than printed stuff.

Veranda

is where its at!!!

I think I mean

Verdana.

Ariel.

Quick Darcy!

I think that's a hint that she's all yours and waiting on the veranda!

heh

:)

make sure you wash the wotsits

out of your hair!

If you want

something like times but a bit nicer, I'd say Garamond. It's what mine's in. Also, Helvetica, Gill sans, Futura or possssibly century gothic (but probably not) are good sans-serif choices.

I'd avoid Helvetica

I think it's too generic, and also a bit too round and kiddy

Helvetica > Arial

Factoid.

Much of a muchness, really. To me anyway.

I'm a big fan of serifs.

I went for Arial

11 pt. It seemed like a safe bet.

heh

pussy

Good work.

You'll do well with that.

I always use Arial Narrow

cos that's what they used to use on Championship Manager.

The earlier games

Used Eras Demi IT I believe[/geek].

Verdana

all the way.

porky's

...or times new roman.
