What would everybodies 'first dance song' be at their wedding? My girlfriend and i were discussing this last night (we're not getting married - just a discussion) and we don't really have 'a song'? Unless you count Build Me Up Buttercup (which was the song playing in our University union bar when we met), which i dont.
Anyway, back to the point, what would your song be?

Party Hard

I bet it would

If you get friendly with AWK at ATP you could convince him to perform it live at your wedding. How ace would that be!?

I am about to faint with excitement

at the very thought. I'd love AWK to do my wedding set. Aces :)

make it happen

I suggested

D.I.V.O.R.C.E by Dolly Parton, but by the time my girlfriend had worked out that spelt divorce the joke was lost!

Can we have past tense too please?

Mine was At My Most Beautiful by REM. One of the few bands we share a passion for. We also had an REM tribute band (and a fucking good one at that) playing the reception.

you're

not getting married... BUT, you're having a discussion with your girlfriend about first dance songs?! dangerous area!

anyway, back to the question. something like morning bell from kid A??? i'd love to see that!

It wasn't really a discussion about

'first dance songs' it was more of a discussion on 'our song'. I just twaeked it a bit to make it sound more alluring to the forum!

oh ok..

i don't think my gilrfriend and i really have "a song" as such..

maybe naked pictures of your mother by electric 6 would be a "contrevsial" choice... for a first dance song that is.

i doubt

id want one to be honest.

im quite shy infront of large groups of people so a dance would scare me too much.
id rather play a song with my band for him.
:)

Micah P Hinson - I don't even know your name

Mild irony, nice song. Not sure if that's its proper title or just a lyric, but anyway, it's off The Opera Circuit.

past tense again :p

we had Elliot Smith singing Waterloo Sunset, a recording of anyway...

I had an

Elvis impersonator sing at my wedding and our first song was 'The wonder of you' which was lyrically appropriate. 'Twas great!

Aphex Twin

Come to Daddy.

My guitar teacher played guitar on "Build Me Up Buttercup" :D

I'm going to mention that *forever*. To answer the question, "Awful Bliss" by Guided by Voices, if only for the line "And bearing in mind other ones that you could have wed, and hopefully dread". Plus it's nice and short, limiting the amount of first dance awkwardness.
