what's your typing speed?

what typing speeds do employers want you to have?
http://www.typingtest.com/
is a good test.

my rate was around 50 the few times i did it. i think this is vaguely decent. i told an temp agency that it was that, as a guess, and they didnt laugh at me...

  • allegedly 64, with 98% accuracy

and i'm tired and don't even type properly. i don't trust it.

  • 38

and my hand hurts now, i couldn't keep that up.

  • 41.

    Rubbish.

  • 64

"Automobiles" keeps dragging me down :(. Who the fuck says "automobile" anyway? Americans, that's who. I can't remember what my point was.

  • Last agency test I took said I was 80 wpm or something

I think most agencies expect about 50.

That test must be silly. I can't be bothered to do it though...

  • Does anyone actually

consistently type at the speeds at which they do these tests?

    • not me

im certainly too lazy for such things
      its liek sprint typing

  • I'm rubbish at typing tests

so I'm not even going to bother doing this.

    I'll guess I'm at around 40 wpm.

  • 64 for me too

    Popular!

  • 44

    pants.

  • 60

    must use msn less.

    • 70wpm with 100% accuracy

the last time i had to test. typingmaster.com used to give good free software to help if you need it.

  • Download "Typing of the Dead"

It is an abandonware version of House of the Dead where you type words to rip zombies to death. Ten times more fun than Mavis fucking Beacon.

  • 74 WPM with 100% accuracy

    I've wasted my life :(

    • last time i took this i got something like 102 WPM

taking it now will reveal to me the true effects on the brain of a few years of alcohol abuse. it will be too depressing.

      • 102?

        Are you a robot?

        • i believe the correct term is 'massive geek'

          • I'd challenge you

            for geeky dominance.

  • that site

fucks up my internet. But when I had it tested for the temp agency I work for in the holidays it was about 68 or something.

  • 7

I fucked up at the start and nothing else counted. :-(

    • yesss

i'm not the worst in the thread

  • that test is bullshit.

Surely everyone can type much faster when they know what they're writing?

  • 40

    97% accuracy

  • 65

i blame resting my keyboard on my lap while i sit on a pouf.

  • 81

    97%. ooh yeah.

  • I'm about 90wpm

I don't need to do that test as know this is a fact.
    So there.

  • 43

    81% success rate.
i usually type a lot faster than that, tests make me nervous :(

    • mine is fast and accurate enough

to get a data input job with the royal mail. i rule!

  • 39

    Go me.

  • 65, 98%

Writing code doesn't really require much fast typing

  • 77 wpm

    93% accuracy.

I'm on a laptop though. I type better on proper keyboards.

    • 73 wpm

      Typing stupid words like eutrophication.

  • 63 WPM

    95% accuracy.

  • 52 WPM

I picked Fishing in Finland. I thought it would have less scary words. It talked about eutrophication. I don't know what that is. I do know that Finland has ample bodies of water for fishing though, including about a hundred rivers, tens of thousands of lakes and two gulfs. I don't know what happened after the eutrophication though, I'll have to do it again.

  • 66wpm

    with 4% accuracy

  • 74...not too bad

Considering all the typing I have to do for school

  • 51 wpm

I should stop typing with 2 fingers.

  • 75wpm

    With 94% accuracy

    • Did it a second time.

      • Didn't meant to post so soon...

75wpm again, but 97% accuracy. I'm definitely consistent with my typing speed.

  • I know

    I'm

  • 66

    • 57

Considering when I did touch-typing at school I went at about 30 I don't think that's too bad.
