probably not

i don't even speak to my known relatives.

depends how close

a friend of mine has a cousing who he hasn't ever seen.

he used to talk about trying to meet her one day but seems to have given up on that front.

yep

No

To say what? 'Hi! We've never met, but we're related! LOLZ!' End of conversation...

you missed off the end

where you ask them for money!

probably not

i don't really see the ones i have now anyway

no way

all my relatives are a bunch of wankers, so why bother hunting down another wanker

I have a cousin who lives at the end of the street

and I never see her. So unless my secret relative is Ric Flair (I always suspected he was my dad), I won't be going out of my way.

someone told me a story

that they didn't know this girl was their cousin then they kissed her and later found out they were related and siad obviously it can't happen again. That's why you should know your family! I have qquite a few and I now know them by face but while I'm open to getting to know them it feels a bit like meeting strangers and therefore not having to like them but choosing. I must admit I love all of my family and it seems English people just don't especially cousins and aunts. A community thing?

my dad told me I have a thirty year old half brother

relaively recently. At the time I was all for going to Yorkshire or the Shetland Isles and finding him, but then apathy sets in. And he won't tell me his last name.

It's 'Windass'

I probably do...

:(

So, um, no...

I'm fairly certain that I will never meet them

It's just made me question everything I knew about my family, which is kind of unpleasant!

It's like when I found

out that my mother had been married to someone before my father. The slut.

Depends how

rich they were.

this rich

££££££££££££££££££££?

£20?

I'm there.

I'd probably find out their phone number

make a couple of nuisance calls, tell them I'm about to commit some crimes, tell lies about myself to appear cool, then leave them to get on with the rest of their lives.

If I was loosely related to someone like

2nd or third cousin removed and removed again then I wouldn't bother. There's not much to say. I happen to be related to someone from a well-known 80s band very loosely through my grandma and well it's always cool to say but it means nothing.

It's a first cousin

and I'm not meant to know they exist!

I feel like I've fallen into an episode of Eastenders.

Yeah, 'course.

Meeting people is good. Right?

Unless

they turn out to be a psycho. Or an ex girlfriend.

..

An ex-girlfriend of mine, when she was 20, discovered that her dad had a second family he'd never told her about (two grown up kids from a previous marriage that he'd never mentioned.) She found out about this a couple of months before her dad died, and these strangers she'd never met before just romped in and took over all the funeral arrangements and things, cleared out his flat etc. It was pretty distressing at the time, but it eventually transpired that my ex was a cold-hearted, lying, manipulative psycho bitch who deserves any misery that a cold and cruel world decides to throw at her. So I call that a happy ending.
