  • Re: Duke Spirit

I knocked back loads of guestlist places for bands from my cousin the year before last. It's up to you.
  • Re: Duke Spirit

Go. Free gigs are the sweetest and it's an excuse to go out drinking.
  • Re: Duke Spirit

Don't listen to them, you'll wish you never went. They're such a dull band. Conversely if you don't mind watching a band because you think the female singer's hot they're for you.
    • Re: Duke Spirit

Pay no attention to Patricide. Go see them.

      Keep quiet, Patricide.
      • Re: Duke Spirit

        No they are dull.
        • Re: Duke Spirit

They are a bit dull. Good artwork though.
        • Re: Duke Spirit

Whether or not they are dull is neither here nor there. Our cohort should go to the gig. The good monpot may hear something that you were not able to.

Go to the gig monpot, and let us know how you get on. I wish you all the best in this particular endeavour.
          • Re: Duke Spirit

I remember doing a gig with Duke Spirit, when they were called Solomon. They thought they were the shit. And they kept putting their beers on my amps. Grr.
            • Re: Duke Spirit

I thought Cuts Across the Land was a nice song.

I can't understand why you all think practically every band in existence so dulll. I mean what DO you listen to.
              • Re: Duke Spirit

Well said, RockNRollMassacre. There's too much negativity. We need to increase the peace. And also the percentage of bands liked by posters on this forum. Personally, I don't get a hard-on when listening to The Duke Spirit on CD, but live, they are a different, more primal animal and I enjoy them more than somewhat.
              • Re: Duke Spirit

That's a massive falsehood. Nobody on here says every band is dull except maybe Prole Art Threat. The poster asked if he should go therefore we replied. I wouldn't rubbish them if I hadn't seen them live and been bored by them. You think they're good, I don't. Let's see what Monpot thinks now.
                • Re: Duke Spirit

They are OK live, nothing special though
The best part was the opening act, the rest of his band didn't turn up and so he sang over a backing track from his mini-disc player and also told jokes.
                • Re: Duke Spirit

Now now Patricide. I do not wish to indulge in pedantry, but I did not say that people on this forum said every band is dull. I said there was too much negativity, which is a little more abstract.

However, as you say, let us see what Monpot thinks.
                  • Re: Duke Spirit

I was referring to Massacre not you. I can read.
                    • Re: Duke Spirit

And I was massively over exaggerating, but you knew what i meant.
                      • -

The easy answer is that modern british music produces a lot of cookie cutter bands, and anyone who recognises this had to search more for bands that are braking the mould. I posted a thread recently about the interesting bands I have found to balance out my slagging of dull bands. It's still around somewhere. So the other part of your earlier question "whatr do you like?" can be found there.
              • Re: Duke Spirit

LOL, I read that as 'Cunts Across The Land'!
