New Linkin Park record this May

Artists: Linkin Park

Linkin Park will return in May with a new album, which will be released through Warner.

The incorrigible scrot-throttlers will release Minutes to Midnight on May 14th, and it will be their third studio album, apparently. DiS was sure they've had a remix album or two - were they not made in a studio?

Here's the band's bassist Dave 'Phoenix' Farrell: "We have put more into the new album than anything we have ever done before." Less, Linkin Park. Try giving it less.

"They really are reinventing themselves," insists producer Rick Rubin. "It doesn't sound like rap-rock, there's very strong songwriting.

"It's very melodic... a progressive record."

A single, 'What I've Done' will be the first track stripped from the album like a rotting piece of doner meat and served up for consumption to a presumably inebriated world populous. It's out digitally on April 2nd, then physically on May 7th. Imagine that sitting in your stomach for a month.

might download this if i can be arsed

Come on, hybrid theory's good. Dont deny it.

?????

Seriously,

wtf.

"It doesn't sound like rap-rock"

Of course it wont. We're not in the year 2001 anymore and it doesn't sell records.

For truth

Some of the riffs are heavy as fuck

'heavy as fuck'

wanker

idiot

seriously

this is a really good record

WHY AM I FEELING PAIN?!??!

this could be good

could be

hybrid theroy

was waht all the cool kids were listening to in 2000... however tastes change, and i feel that the people buying the new record and appreciating it will not be the same people who bought the first two records...

I wish

I'd actually put in the groundwork earlier in life to be widely referred to by a cool nickname like "Pheonix" :(

shit

.

corrections

"was waht all the cool kids were listening to in 2000... however tastes change, and i feel that the people buying the new record and appreciating it will not be the same people who bought the first two records..."

correction, its what all the uncool kids were listening to

Linkin Park cover YES!!!

"They really are reinventing themselves," insists producer Rick Rubin. "It doesn't sound like rap-rock, there's very strong songwriting.

"It's very melodic... a progressive record."

So Linkin Park have gone prog rock, should be afucking corker of an album...

as much as they suck

they have a few songs which aren't as shit as you'd think
like faint
breaking the habit

.

I'VE

BECOME SO NUMB

linkin park

pffft

Wow

I hope the deeply deeply rubbish "ippi dippi-dah" nursery rhyme rapper is on form for this one...the CAT is FAT on the MAT. He's so funny.

rick rubins producing?

will definitely give it a listen then.
and i agree with yes_ hybrid theory is a great rock album.

What...

...a smarty arse news story.

Might be worth a listen with Rubin in charge.

First Record

Was punchy pop/rap metal/rock/whatever with three songs of the length 03:04 (I dunno, that always made me laugh. Like when I read some magazine dissing Disturbed and Taproot for releasing albums comprising only of one word song titles) which I'd still defend as being good in it's field.

They've pretty much bored me ever since like. Live album, remix album, guess they kinda had to write a new record soonish.

Ooh

I just remembered that there was a DVD on the 'Meteora' album which is absolutely hilarious. Watch in stoner heaven as a band explains in great detail how they recorded a guitar track and played it backwards for the album as if inventing the wheel!

old hat

Hybrid Theory may be a solid album, but I reckon Rap Metal lost relevance after Faith No More turned away from the rap style of delivery (good move by FNM, though).
Rubin may well be the world's best producer, but that doesn't stop him churning out boring crap like RHCP. Slick and multi-platinum crap, but crap nonetheless.

didn't they

split from Warners? hmmmm.

Rick Rubin

Is fucking overrated as a producer. All he does is turn out predictable crap like this to the sound of billions of dollars falling into his Scrooge McDuck style money vault... What was his last good album? Seriously? Umm... some Beastie Boys / Slayer album 20 years ago? Hairy prick.

wrong

so wrong

Linkin Park

really surprised everyone with the Jay Z collaboration, you shouldn't knock them

especially since Rubin's in the back, i tihnk so long as they let go of 2001's macho shit then they could be an awesome like hip hop group

The Jay-Z Mash-Up...

...really did surprise me, actually.

I'd thought Jay-Z had more integrity than that. I was wrong, of course. Oh, and how wrong I was...
