Yeah

It's a fuckin great festival. Well, it was last year anyway. I totally loved it. Fine location too. Got my tickets now. Good.

I'm going too

although there's a slight doubt about whether I'll make the Friday. Really looking forward to this, especially after seeing their announcement message earlier.

yeah

shame it's, again, the same weekend as the STA alldayer!

wahooo

guess this means i'm from barcelona didn't agree for a second year then :( woe

New names

The Bees, King Creosote, Brakes, Devastations, Findlay Brown, Fionn Regan, Hyacinth House, Jeffrey Lewis, Johnny Flynn, Josh T Pearson, Micah P Hinson, Misty's Big Adventure, My Brightest Diamond, Paris Motel, Pete & the Pirates, Port O'Brien, The Twilight Sad.

(And someone else reckons Loney Dear's playing)

This line up

Just keeps getting better!

Website's just been updated

New acts of interest: Yo La Tengo, Architecture In Helsinki, Archie Bronson Outfit, James Yorkston, Jim White, Joan As Police Woman, Besnard Lakes, Dan Sartain, David Vandervelde, Richard Swift, Stephanie Dosen.

Nice

I'm still hoping for A Hawk and a Hacksaw and mebbe Beirut, but so far, so good...

This is just us, isn't it?

Sometime between then and now they've added Midlake too.

I'd really like to go to this,

it's at a really awkward weekend though. And I only have one other person who wants to go with me and I don't know if they can make it *sadface*. The line up looks ace though. Looking at the pictures it reminds me of Bestival but more twee/folk-y.

Hurrah

Mr babykim won the DiS tickets so now we're going - for free!

ughhhh

Jens Lekman is playing too!

:D

yay.

I

assume you mean Jamie. Sadly I don’t know if I’m going or not. I’m waiting on someone to find out if they’re going but I wanna gooooo!

Just heavy rumour at the moment

but Danielson, the Concretes, I'm From Barcelona and the Willard Grant Conspiracy are all apparently about to be confirmed.

maybe!

depends on money and stuff. i'd like to.

AMAZING!

That has actually made me so happy! Jens that is

DANIELSON!

Confirmed on website! I am very happy. What was a great festival is now officially the best of the year!

British Sea Power just confirmed

this just gets better

Rather excellent looking promo film

http://www.sssfilms.com/eotrpromo.html

I think I've also found out who the as yet unnamed Sunday headliners are, which is quite exciting.

And now so has Teletext

even before the proper announcement, so I'll name them with impugnity. It's Lambchop. And Robyn Hitchcock's coming too.

it has said Lambchop on the website

for at least a week now

Yes

But I only noticed this morning.

:O

omg.
i really should be going to this

yeah you should

just look at some of the awesomeness on display:

http://www.endoftheroadfestival.com/

and only for 100 nicker too.

i know it

its just the money and camping i'm opposed to

i just got tickets

for this.just guess ill have to do camping one last time.i hate camping-blah!!!!

Loney, Dear

confirmed by a reference in Mojo, of all things. It's only a small independent thing - precisely who sold their soul to get this line-up together?

Its pretty strong isnt it?

And have only just realised its about 10 miles from my dads house.

Makes the following noise:

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

John Parish

added too. The official site has day splits up as well.

Oh good god

Robyn Hitchcock's not on the EOTR list but at the moment it's listed on his own website. Unfortunately it seems he won't be accompanied by Peter Buck.

No. He'll be accompanied by John Paul Jones.

Just ordered my ticket

Should be ace!

this musically is not my cup of tea

as I like the noise.

But I reckon as festivals go this will be frikkin awesome - amazing site.

I'll be going

and I can't imagine a line up that could be better suited to me.

One question, though: how many stages are there? They don't seem to be too clear about that on the site, and there are several bands who would cause me some severe distress were they to clash.

three

music stages. i asked simon (organiser) and he confirmed that Midlake were on before Yo La Tango on the main stage, so that's me sorted. i'm also really looking forward to seeing Willard Grant Conspiracy again. hugely unfashionable "alt country" band, sounds vocally like Nick Cave but with way better songs. i love the arrangements on Morning Is The End of The Day and Evening Mass.

That sounds good

but it's more saturday that I'm worried about. If The Super Furries, Darren Hayman or BSP clash I will be very upset. Although, they seem to have Darren Hayman playing on Saturday and Sunday - a mistake surely?

the SUper Furries would win pretty much any clash

as far as I'm concerned (I'm aware this doesn't help your predicament much)

But also, it's not worth worrying about until you see the lineup. And it's a small festival, so I'm sure you'd be able to see a bit of both even if there is a clash.

Super Furries would win

if it wasn't for the fact that I've seen them lots. Also, I could't really bring myself to miss Darren Hayman.

Sounds like a winner end of the day...

festival. SFA, Lamb chop and sssooo many more!! Winner!

Last year

There was a main outdoor stage (in the gardens - very nice location), a big top stage, which is unsurprisingly a big tent, and the third stage is basically a big teepee which serves as a bar/lounge/small stage area. That last one was one of my highlights of last year.

They're selling day tickets for this now

What time did the bands finish on Sunday in the past, does anyone know? Sorely tempted to go for a day.

They finish about 12am

as i remember. James Yorkston got to play till about 12:15 in the big tent on the Sunday night, which was nice.

stages this year

THere will be:
Garden Stage
Big Top Stage
Bimble Inn

The local/open mic stage

As ever there will be a couple of imprpv shows just around and about...keep your ear to the ground....

this is no use to me

because im travelling from manchester but www.megatrain.com are doing london waterloo to salisbury for £18 return. the cheapest i can find from manchester is £118 single. anyone want to share fuel costs and drive

compilation cd?

is that a freebie that everyone gets?

Apparentally my tickets are waiting for me at home!

As far as i'm aware yes

Looks pretty good. Think it's the same as the one on this months Plan B.

I'm enjoying the freebie cd lots

Architecture in Helsinki and Archie Bronson Outfit have now gained a new fan (I mean, me)

Archie Bronson is ace live

I highly recommend you see him. We should probably do a role call soon.

Some answers to questions about End of the Road..

Hi there,

Just thought I'd pop in to say THANK YOU sooooo much for all the love and to answer some questions... right now we are working hard to get everything ready for a fantastic weekend.

Anyways, to the lovely person who wants to see BSP, SFA and Darren Hayman - just to let you know that BSP and SFA are playing pretty much at the same time, sorry, but Darren Hayman is definitely playing at a different time.

With regards to the free CD - we're sending out about 1,000 of these, as we felt we wanted to do something to say THANK YOU to the loyal peeps who trusted us by buying their tickets early... enjoy!

For those who didn't receive one in the post - it's the same as the one that comes with the current Plan B magazine, if you want to get some ear candy!

Sunday night will finish around midnight on the Garden stage, around 1-2am in the Big Top and at 3am in the Bimble Inn... we want to make this wonderful weekend stretch as far as we possibly can, especially as it looks like the weather might be on our side.

A few cancellations - Micah P Hinson, Besnard Lakes, CW Stoneking, Fionn Regan and Richard Swift are the bands who have had to pull out so far due to various / personal reasons. Hopefully they might be able to come back next year instead.

Also, we've not made a big announcement about the Friday being curated by the wonderful legend of Howe Gelb... we've just been too rushed off our feet, but Howe's day is going to be fabulous with sets from Wovenhand, John Doe, John Parish, Jim Bryson, All Smiles, Lonna Kelley, Kate Maki, Scout Niblett + more... and a very special GIANT jam SANDwhich!

Any more questions, please email me through the website as I don't pop in here as often as I should.

And if you do email me through the website, please bear with me - there's only really 2 of us working full time on this festival, so my response may take a little while.

Lots of sunshine to you all,
Sofia
xx

Woodpigeon...

...please check them out! I'm not going, but they are ace!

Two weeks away!

Shit

I best get some money

hurrah!

I anticipate muchos relaxation there

woven hand?

fuck! i really wish i was going to this now :(

Wow

Just look at that line-up! Even more bands than on the flyer.

Anyone want to do a spreadsheet for easy reference? I want to plan my movements. I already see I'll have to leg it from Danielson to Liz Green.

Also - 4 stages this year! bonus!

Actually

Not so much in the way of bad clashes. Nothing that I'll have much difficulty in deciding.

e.g. Danielson vs. Fireworks Night. Unfortunate, but Danielson wins easy.

But major clash here:

Jens Lekman - James Yorkston - Nancy Elizabeth. That's a toughie!

BSP clash with SFA

which is disappointing, but SFA win that one hands down.

And Euros Childs with Jeffrey Lewis, again that's not contest. Jeffrey wins every time.

Stage times - printable pdf

http://gigleaf.blogspot.com/2007/09/end-of-road-2007.html

single page all days all bands printable pdf showing stage times.

enjoy!

Thanks gigleaf

whoever you are. all the clashes are clear now.

That's not bad at all

can still see a bit of SFA after BSP. Malcolm Middleton/Archie Bronson is a bit annoying.

Next week!

so

what's all this "and a very special GIANT jam SANDwhich!" stuff then?

I take it it's some clue about something special that's going to happen but I can't be arsed / don't have the brain power to work it out

Well

it's on the day curated by Giant Sand's Howe Gelb, if that's any help.

I'm trying to guess who the Saturday surprise guest is. Assuming it's not just someone inconsequential who hadn't confirmed their booking at the time, I can't help noticing that both Super Furries and Gruff's solo sidewoman Lisa Jen's own band 9Bach are playing.

Ah I see

I'm hoping you're right about the Gruff and Lisa thing, they were possibly the best act I saw at Glastonbury.

If they're both there it would be rude for them not to play together really

I hope

this is true

ONE WEEK TO GO!

Yay!

a little help anyone

I have a saturday day ticket and am going to get the bus from sailsbury to the festival but how can i get back to sailsbury at midnight. There isn't a return bus. Any ideas?

I'd book a cab if I were you

I can't imagine there will be any type of bus service at midnight in rural Dorset...

As for the comedy - maybe. I've not seen live comedy for about 10 years. I've heard Josie Long is good...
