Reel Big Fish

Some good friends of mine are currently wetting themselves due to the fact that Reel Big Fish are releasing some stuff, or something. I appear to be the only one of this group of friends that is of the opinion that they are the worst sort of musical gathering, sort of a cross between having to use a cheese grater on the bottom of your feet and sitting through a slide show of your neighbours' 8 week holiday to Warrington. They might not be a band that many have an opinion on, but for those of you that have, exactly what is your opinion?

Don't really know them that much but they do have a few fun songs (Beer, Sell Out, a quality cover of Take On Me) that I've heard. Probably the sort of band you'd never buy an album by though, I imagine the humour would start to wear thin pretty quickly. One of my best mates likes them a lot though, and he says they're really good live.

I was into RBF back in the day. Even as a teenager I knew they were shit really. If they do some new stuff, they'll probably go all 'mature'. Which would be even worse.

Oh yeah, and unless you've seen them live you're missing the point entirely, and I don't mean you 'I saw them at V69 from behind some fat bloke in a novelty hat at 3:15 on a saturday afternoon in the rain' types either, because that doesn't count....

They are really good live, very 'feel good' music. Beer, Selll Out, She Has A Girlfriend Now and Take On Me are all quality tracks. Not the best music in the world, but seeing them is an enjoyable evening out. Support of The Starting Line and Sugarcult though...not worthy of words.

I like reel big fish a lot. not many people do though.
sell out is their best song, in my opinion.
if you've seen baseketball, they're the band that's playing during one of the matches.
