the Sleeping Years.

.

buttonhead are easily the best band based in london.

they have a string of gigs around london at the moment i think.

sailplanes

dead good wedding present/k records/shellac type noise with male and female vocals, their last e.p. was a glorious sound of clanging.

oh and part chimp obviously...

I LOVE BUTTONHEAD

x

coming to see em on wennersday?

supporting la 'Jetson?

tomorrow?

errrrrrm

Come and see them

tomorrow night with us (redjetson) at the Luminaire!!!

he said good !

sorry!

I misread "good" as "incredible"!

you have a problem

...

You're in a Brighton band

Silly.

shows played in Brighton : about 5

shows played in London : about 25

We're a London band!

Oh alright

That's a pretty faultless logic.

Lyle's already plugged that hole

but I'll add to the 4/5M love.

Dunno what kind of thing you're looking for, but I was recently impressed by live shows from these two:

Shimmy Rivers And And Canal

Down I Go

and I'm locked in a long-term affair with:

Gooblar

Favours For Sailors

4 or 5 Magicians

Twisted Charm

The Doghouse Riley Band

As someone else said, The Sailplanes are good as well. Loads more that I can't think of. There are about 10,000 shit bands in London though.

go and listen to favours for sailors

they just recorded a new demo with the same guy that did ours, and it sounds brilliant.

Indeed....

...favours for sailors are awesome. I played a gig with those at 93 Feet East in January. Dead nice chaps they were too!

I'm liking a lot the sound of 4 or 5 Magicians too. I take it that's your band Dan?
Good stuff!

yep, thanks!

which band are you?

I play guitar in this lot...

The gig we did with Favour for Sailors was ace. We spent a fair few minutes in the 93 Feet East dressing room admiring the detail people had put into drawing cocks on the ceiling. Good times.

You got any plans to bring your band oop north?

hopefully

we're gonna get a DIY UK tour organised for June. We have people around the country who have contacted us who put gigs on, but its always difficult to justify putting on a band who probably wont bring in a whole load of people, however much you like them, which I understand. Still, would be nice. If you could sort us out with a gig in Liverpool that would be ace, your band sounds great! We are now myspace friends ... as soon as you accept!

Accepted!

I've just messaged you with some tasty info too. Have a look.

I really like Favours for Sailors

And the Sailplanes.

I think

The Wave Pictures are from London. They're great.

Yeah, they're London-based

and are very good indeed.

Oh yes, played with these guys

Very good indeed - been meaning to get them to Reading but been a bit shit.

So yeah

That 4 or 5 magicians are a pretty good band.

http://www.myspace.com/4or5magicians

But srsly, they are good.

Has this just turned into a 4 or 5 Magicians appreciation thread, then?

I think Dan must have started bribing DiSers to plug it.

yeah every time someone plugs my band

I write ANOTHER classic song.

We'd better get plugging then

you've got a long way to go

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

A few I know of:

Akira
Kill Kenada
Untitled 1961
The Bridport Dagger
Bob Constance
I Own Kings

Akira

are rubbish. No offence to them or anything, but pretty poor (presuming this is the same Akira who went to Cambridge uni)

(Even if it's wrong)
