Oh LORD!!!
JESUS!!!!
CHRIST!!!
It's not 'poop'.
i thought this album was rubbish once.
it's really not.</detailed analysis>
yeah, well, when i first bought it I hated it.
I put it down and said, 'Ewwwwwwww'.
But have started relistening to a lot of old stuff that I 'put down to rest' and am actually enjoying it.
Sea Change, of course, was fucking incredible.. but this is listenable on a Sunday whilst reading the newspapers, eating eggs on toast, and drinking filtered coffee... it's good.. it's evoking nice feelings and that IS GOOD.
Girl
is a top track... Remix album also pretty good.
Read the last '50 Worst Albums' in Q recently... Midnite Vultures was in there?! So wrong it's unbelievable...
I'm listening to it VERY VERY VERY LOUDLY... nice bass... niiiiiiiiice.
i hate it
maybe its something to do with it being played every day in a shop i worked in for 2 years. i just see everything he's done since sea change (which was amazing) as a crap stepback to his least interesting period (the yawnsome Odelay). give me another mutations or vultures any day.
:(
Guero is in 4th place...
But that's still Champions League...
nope
everything before odelay is better than anything post-sea change
Bear in mind that anything
Q says is utter wank
It's good good good
esp. worth it for Boards of Canada remix of Broken Drum
did they??
I didn't know that!
Yep
...it's mint.
the version on the LP?
I'm looking at sleeve notes now...
Bonus track
is the BOC remix of Broken Drum
Guero
Love it, Beck's best album.
I love Earthquake Weather
I am so happy to have found this LP again... It's great moving rooms and finding stuff you forgot about..
:D
not the best
but the best post-odelay...
classic stuff!!!
i hate beck
:(
why? He's such a handsome young man, and a scientologist...
Black Tambourine is on now...
I love the bass.. his use of bass is so distinct, innit...
thats jack white doing bass on that track
i think
REALLY?
Cool - nice bit of info there..
because his music
self satisfied smug crap.
sorry, you are outnumbered in this thread!
WHOO!
Best shows...
were around Odelay and Midnite Vultures... Ehthangyow.
the midnite vultures show at Reading in 2000
remains one of the best live shows i've ever seen..
id agree
although i did see him do a cover of cry me a river when he did that acousric tour, which was ace
def
the midnite vultures tour!
really enjoyable album
not his best (imho) but girl and e-pro were great singles.
in the grand scheme of things this album is pretty good
but compared to any of Beck's output before it, totally crap. This guy can do so much better!
If you don't have it, you must get his folk album on Calvin Johnson's K Records called One Foot In The Grave. Brilliant.
