Pitchfork's latest list...

Okay, there's gonna be a thread about this at some point, so I thought I may as well start it.

Have to say I think they redeemed themselves a little after last week. A few inclusions (Aesop Rock, Max Tundra, Notwist...) that I really wasn't expecting, but it was fantastic to see. And when all's said and done, I can't disagree with their collective choice for the top spot.

Still don't get the fuss with Jay-Z though...

  • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

Neither does Matthew Knowles, Beyonce's father, he hates Jay-Z.
  • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

It's an very good list. Excellent, in fact.

On reflection, the other one wasn't all that bad either. You're rather stick for choice when trying to think of good singles. I don't really understand why everyone likes annie yet, but I dont think i've listened enough for it to seep into my sub-conscious.

      "A very good list."
      Contradiction in terms.
      • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

I'm sorry, but the inclusion of Basement Jaxx and Missy Elliott entirely invalidates the entire list. Possibly the entire website. And American music criticism in general.

      • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

Since the grand Pitchfork website facelift, does anyone else think that they're filling in space with a lot of lists right now? It seems that there's a new list every week on something or other...
        • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

Yes. They do seem to be having a problems thinking up enough decent features.

Maybe they could scrap the weekly one and replace it with an advert...
        • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

i much prefered how it looked before the redesign
      • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

Shit. I have 37 of them. This disturbs.
  • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

lists are what journalists do instead of thinking.

but lots of Radiohead so i forgive them.
    • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

It was a cool list and def better than the singles list they had that had some retarded songs like Cameron's "breathe" and "hey ma" by the untalented who san teh other horrible song about 6 in the morning or sthing
They had Clipse on the album list and they recognised the genious of "grindin" but they didn't have N.E.R.D. "in search of"?It is much better than half of Jay-Z discography.
      • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

just typical pitchfork really isn't it? tries to touch all the bases so there's bound to be stuff you like and dislike in there.
  • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

I had issues with the inclusion of LCD Soundsystem. Yes, it's a good act but this is a case of current hype and media exposure influencing a subjective exercise.
  • Re: Pitchfork's latest list...

I enjoyed it, much more interesting than the usual best-of lists.

Not sure I agree with number 1, but I can forgive that.
