Anyone else heard it here? One of the best alt-country records I've ever heard. Uncut fall over themselves to praise the band, but they don't seem to get coverage anywhere else.

Alt country

eh? could be good...

more than good

though they've made me angry by posting not so good tracks as the free mp3's on their site. i downloaded "the longer you wait" and "post to wire" from the album a couple of years back, bought it, loved it and then they go and put the track up that i skip most times i listen. bands are dumb.

I love Richmond Fontaine

although I only have 'The fitzgerald', which I listened to non stop for 6 months. I met them at a rough trade instore. I had never heard of them and they done a small set. It was wonderful. Nice guys as well.

"The Fitzgerald"

is special. The new album "Thirteen Cities" got rave reviews but I couldn't help feeling dissapointed. However, "Post To Wire" is worth your monies too. Got some incredible tunes on it, though its not as stripped back as The F. Which incidentally gets namechecked on this record a lot as its their local hotel and that's where he goes to write the music.

Isn't he an author as well?

I swear I read that he has a book written on the themes of the fitzgerald.

I don't know

but his lyrics are really good, always tells a narrative.

Frustrated as I'd like to link to some of their music for others but they haven't even got any material to download from The Fitzgerald and only the worst track from Post..

yeah

his book is called The Motel Life, i read it a few months ago, highly recommended.

I like Thirteen Cities, it's a pretty solid effort although it lacks any real killer tunes. I doubt they'll ever top Western Skyline from the Winnemucca album though.

this

sounds like it's right up my alley. i'll check out those records, thanks!

bloody good

and i missed them at a tiny venue in february! argh!!!!

they are, of course, brilliant

saw them at the borderline last july. it was very hot and they were very good.
