The Beatles

Before I start: I'm aware the Beatles wrote Yellow Submarine and Maxwell's Silver Hammer, both of which aren't very good songs.

Does anyone here listen to any of the early Beatles albums? I've had them on non-stop for the past few days. I think they're perfect rocknroll records. They each have a unique individual sound to them, but are all consistent.

Its partly why they're the best. Although something like 'Don't Bother Me' isn't as innovative as 'A Day In The Life', its just as good at fulfilling its purpose.

But people don't tend to talk about the pre-Rubber Soul records very much. What are everyone's favourites though, before it?

Mine's With The Beatles at the moment. Please Please Me was lovely, but WTB is liek the epitomy of a very strong follow-up.

i like the early hitzzz

but dont listen to the early albums as a lot of the songs seem a bit samey, and just not as good as the singles

choose 5 pre rubber soul songs that werent singles/arent really famous that i should listen to, please

0000

It Won't Be Long
Don't Bother Me
I'm A Loser
Kansas City
I've Just Seen A Face

Can't really choose though, to be honest. Since there aren't any bad tracks on any of the records, you'd probably be better off getting full albums.

no i have all of them on mp3

but whenever ive tried to listen i get bored and put on the hits, do a little bop and listen to better music

im a loser is god f'sure, but for some reason i consider that "one of the hits"

Yeah.

I spose the fact you have them all right in front of you in one spot might make it a little less interesting. I think because you can just pick out the singles and listen to the familiar ones, you'll probably not be bothered with the album tracks much.

But I don't have any of the singles. I just have the albums, and none of the singles are on the LPs. Which is kinda brilliant, if you think about it.

Still, if you feel like listening to some old fashioned rock n roll, stick their debut on. Its magical.

is that meet the beatles?

the wonderful world of the beatles?

"They each have a unique individual sound to them, but are all consistent.

Its partly why they're the best. "

Pretty much ANY semi decent sixties band has good album tracks though...Turtles, Nino Tempo and April Stevens, Dave Clark Five... Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Tich

I'm not 'against' early Beatles. I much prefer it to their earlier material, but to say it is spectacular is plain wrong.

People need to hear all this stuff

Link me to these bands' myspaces people will have made.

And I'll tell you why The Beatles are better.

bf

Can't do it- those who have myspaces, have the hits on there- and the point I was trying to refute of yours is that the Beatles are 'double qual' cos their album tracks are good...

I'll do you a mix cd if you like

Sounds fit.

I'm loving the 60's musicalness right now.

Anyone who doesn't realise it was the best decade for choons is deaf or gay.

bf

its all true

pm your address and I'll send you something

I sort of want one to

I've seen your replies to many of these threads and wondered about these bands you talk about. I mean there is so much good music that isnt really in the mainstream now there must have been quite a lot back then. How do you get into these bands and where do you buy their stuff from?

I'm

both !

u r def. gay

Deaf vs Gay debate

"Anyone who doesn't realise it was the best decade for choons is deaf or gay."

I should imagine the 60s was probably a better decade for gay people than the 50s...

bf

* later- cos its straightforward, good pop.

Haven't listened to them

since I was 13...

omg really?

You're well cool.

Give me your number. We'll have crazy sex chat.

cool ? me ?

Sorry wrong number...

Grrr.

Easy, tiger!

that was a reference

to one of the bands that made me definitely forget the Beatles...

Forget the Beatles eh?

Wow. You're on like an upside down cool helter skelter (beatles ref.). You just keep getting cooler and cooler.

I never cared in all my life

about what's cool or not.
Certainly would never want to be considered cool.

Yes, I found the Beatles were great when I was 10. Later, I found another bands that I liked and the Beatles have never done it again to me.
I won't deny it's a great band ( there's many other great bands that I don't lie ), just that they don't touch ME anymore.

You really are missing Marco if you've nothing better to do than to try to anger me...

I'm not trying to anger you.

You're the strangest user in the history of the world, that's all.

why strange ?

first of all

yellow submarine is awesome.ringo's voice makes me feel safe. i like the pre rubber soul albums theres some good stuff on them and you can really notice a motown influence.please please me is a great album especially for that cover of twist and shout

The first song I properly liked was

You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, from Help. It was in Year 6 music.

pastmasters vol 2
