On that post: What I said was entirely true. The thing about everyone knowing my name is what she said. What I said was relevant to the thread and meant as a "Just talk to people you recognise when you see them, they'll take it as a compliment like I did..."

not holding back or being fake, great, but its nice to have some social skills, you were basically dropping in to the conversation the fact that your universally adored, and not just on that occasion, i know you dont care but you could tone down on the bigging yourself up.

It's a matter of what topics come up at whatever time. I recently remember making a post where I admit to the way jealousy is an emotion that has screwed me up in the past, and I've admitted to the weakness that is my residual feelings towards my first love... they're not bigging myself up, they're the complete opposite. I have no problem with admitting to my flaws.
I know what I'm like, though, and I know I need to be in an open group of individualistic, confident and competitive people who can't be insulted and love to have fun, but can also be serious and helpful if the need arises. Which really isn't hard to find...
'Normal' people do tend to disagree with my attitude, which I can accept. They form cliques and have a fairly strict social order that they adapt themselves to fit into, they tell white lies to each other, they hold back when somiething comes to mind that their friends would disagree with... my personality doesn't fit with that. I come into conflict in this sort of way a lot...
I'm quite a social person so I get acquainted to whole new groups of people quite regularly. Some people I met in Liverpool, I felt very uneasy. One group of Manchester people, pretty sure they dislike me. Another group in Manchester, we get on time. Another Manchester group, I fit right in. A group in Leeds, fairly individualistic is the impression I get of them, so naturally I get on better with some than others from the start. Love those people. :) In college, I fit in perfectly with practically everyone.
I just spend more time with the people I get on with better, and make GOOD friends with the people I REALLY gel with. As most people do...
The only way to change myself into someone who is universally liked by all groups is to become someone else. Unfortunately that isn't gonna happen... so I'll settle for being disliked by a lot of people, on this board and in life in general. I don't ENJOY it by any means, but it doesn't affect me. :)

It started out that was a few years ago. I was the weirdo in year 8 who had messy long hair and a moustache. This guy in the year above asked my name, and I said "Tony Ross" is a really funny foreign accent. So every time he and his friends saw me they'd chant my name and bow down to me and stuff.
It spread to the whole year group and eventually got to the point where it wasn't even taking the piss any more and I played up to it a bit. Twas all fun.
Then people in the year below me picked up on it by the time I was at 6th form, and then my 6th form merged with another 6th form, and it spread between schools. Now it's not really a mocking thing AT ALL, just a general greeting when certain people see me.
The two schools don't mix much but I got invited to a party by people from the other school the other week, and I was liked, so now have a wider circle of new friends and more from that group keep showing up and pulling stunts like those. :P
It isn't a case of me being mocked, but isn't a case of me being something godly either ... but I do enjoy it.
And I'll happily accept life in Grockle's shadow. He is so the man. :P
