Best thing Tim Kasher's ever recorded on, I'd take it over Cursive 6/7 days of the week.
Lyrically, it's possibly my favourite record ever. Possibly.
This album needs more appreciation.

as good as the ugly organ? i think not,
but it's still a utterly fantastic album.i just wish it had a few more electronic bleeps and bloops like the black out.
Hmmm, I do love Black Out,
and The Ugly Organ, and (especially) Domestica (I know you didn't mention that, but whatever). I love pretty much everything Kasher's involved with, he's one of my favourite people in music.
I love the style and atmosphere of Black Out. I just love the writing on AOTY so much, there's so much character, and the themes work really well. And vocally he sounds awesome.
Album of the Year
Is also by far my favorite Tim Kasher Album. All the songs are just superb lyricaly and musicaly. I have no words to describe this album, I've listened to it so many times and I nearly cried when I saw him play it live... Only regret, I asked if he could play "You're no fool" and he said they weren't doing it on this tour. Maybe the song is emotionaly very strong for him, I don't know. I just love the way he pronounces the phrase "I heard he's running witha prostitute"
where'd you see him/them?
I really want them to tour.
Apparently they've got a new one out this year.

I saw them in Brussels
in january two years ago.
Didn't know about this new album, I'm exited! and nervous, can't possibly be as good as album of the year can it?
Quite simply, no.
yes
it's a very good album !
great album
I LOVE THE TITLE track
It is
great, but i think the black out has a lot more diversity and stands up to more listens, however Cursive are Kashers best band and their new album is fantastic. he's such a good observational lyricist!!
weird
I love the good life but I don't really get cursive. I got The ugly organ in a 2€ used bin a year ago and was really excited as I had heard it was great. Then I listened and didn't really like any of the stuff on it...
listen to it again.
I prefer the goodlife to cursive, but AOTY has never really clicked with me, I like the title track, lovers need lawyers, and inmates is the best song he has ever written, but alot of the rest kind of plods along.
Sometimes I think Tim Kasher is actually the greatest person ever. I was thinking the other day what life must be like for him, say he gets into a relationship and the girl checks his back catalogue, surely she would just make a hasty retreat.
I bought album of the year last week
I reckon it's better than Happy Hollow, but not better than the ugly organ. It is great though.
