one for the sports fans I guess, but if you had to see either the World Cup final (with England, or wherever you're from in), against Germany, live, or your favourite bands last gig live, WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

no
it couldn't happen. Don't say it'll happen.
(The band would win)
World Cup
Obviously
^
I can't think of any circumstances where this wouldn't be the case.
what!
fucking kidding!>><M >??
all my favourite bands have played
literally thousands of gigs. The last one would be nice but essentially they'd be playing the same set of songs they would've played at the penultimate gig and the gig before that and that they've always played.
it depends how much you like/care about football innit.
I think if you
vote for England you should be annihilated.
*ANNIHLATES SELF*
[/drunk spelling]
gig
only just though...
Do one-off reformations of classic bands count?
They have to have been around
in your lifetime, and at a gig-going age.
The football,
no doubt.
Then I suppose I could have Kyuss
and nothing would stop me going
I've seen my favourite band live twice
I've never seen England in the world cup final. So World Cup wins.
But... If there was an option: go back in time and see Nirvana in a small venue, then that would win.
I could always avoid the result of the footy and watch it later, or bask in the glory anyway if we won. I couldn't pretend I'd seen Nirvana live.
World Cup blates
Unless you were like, the worlds biggest Nick Drake obsessive and you'd never got to see him live
favourite band's LAST GIG?
would have to be the band in that case. Although it would be a devastating choice.
I hope to God England don't win the World Cup
The country would be a living hell of media ridiculousness for the next 30 years. *shudder*.
Please no. England can't cope with winning the Rugby World Cup, we sure couldn't cope with winning the Football one.
It'd have to be the football me thinks...
If Scotland
got to the World Cup final I don't think there is anything that would stop me from going.
band.
i dont
even like football that much but i'd still choose the world cup
i don't dislike football,
i'm just not overly interested in it.
band
international football is lame
I don't...
..give a rats arse about the England football team, why would I want to cheer on a bunch of underachieving red shite?
Club football is a million times more important to me than how England fare in the World Cup.
So, in answer to that question. I'd go to the gig.
The gig all the way
Id sooner just see an average gig than see England win the world cup. Id rather Sunderland win the average game on a Saturday than England win the world cup. In short, i couldnt give a fuck about England.
what? me agreeing with a mackem?
crazy
ps. we're gonna beat you next season fo'sho'
I don't care about football very much.
Even so, Ireland reaching the World Cup Final against Germany would be so MEGAAHKEEHHFSNAHEXCITING AND UNLIKELY that, yeah. I'd hit that.
I actually changed my mind
while scrolling down this thread.
I would say band. Although I would have to think who my favourite band were.
gig
without a doubt.
easy for you to say
your country has already won the world cup!
even if it wasn't the case
no way I would choose football instead of music !
Germany
has not qualified for the World Cup. The teams remaining in the World Cup are:
Bangladesh
Ireland
South Africa
Sri Lanka
Australia
New Zealand
England
West Indies
good work.
i saw my favourite band's last gig
well, last UK gig anyway - Fugazi.
So it would have to be the World Cup.
Ireland vs. England, Ireland win.
What if
you're from Germany?
I like the post
Referring to England as "under-achieving".
They wouldnt be if they were in the final of the world cup you numbnuts.
Anyway, its the WC final every single time. By a mile. "last gigs" dont exist these days anyway what with every band reforming 6 years later.
hmmm
band if England were playing in the final but possibly football if an underdog team were in the final (I love supporting underdogs)
football doesn't move me much
I would rather see my favourite band's last gig.
it's over :(
It would never have worked.
:'(
:'(
Ukraine vs Germany...
Would be kinda boring. It's hardly like Ukraine and Germany have a huge footballing rivalry, unlike say Poland.
Saying that, it'd be seeing a world cup final, the atmosphere would be amazing (I've been to group games and they're amazing) and I'd get to see my favourite team.
I've seen Bright Eyes once, and will be seeing him twice more. Even though he's brilliant live, I wouldn't be *that* bothered about it.
Um...
World Cup, I think.
I love thinking loads about hypotheticals.
And I chose football over music - *shock*
Having been to the World Cup last year
Only briefly but enough to get a flavour I can assure you the atmosphere and partyness of the whole thing is unmatchable.
Best weekend of my life (and it was for Ecuador v Costa Rica!), making it better than 8 Glastonbury's, 8 Readings etc etc and a life time of gig going.
Yeah, I went to three group stage games...
And the whole experience was one of the greatest I've ever had
errr
"Partyness"
"unmatchable"
Can someone teach me english this week please.
Its a no brainer...
... World Cup wins everytime.
Any anyhow, shouldn't a band only be a favourite if you've seen them live?? I couldn't imagine having a favourite band based on produced pieces of music only.
Ergo, favourite band= already seen them= World Cup wins.
I'm with you on the football.
But by your logic, a band can't be your favourite if they weren't around during your lifetime. I don't like this.
Bandbandband
This is a complex issue.
my instinct is to go see the band, cause then i'd kick myself if england lost cause it would be shite. but then in england won, i'd kick myself for missing out on seeing us win the world cup.
i honestly couldn't choose.
England raping the Germans in the World Cup
would be hilariously jokes.
Then again Kyuss, Suede, Stone Roses, Talking Heads, Elliott Smith et cetera live I would die for and then some more.
To revisit this
Although I would choose gig over country, I would choose club team in European Cup Final ahead of either.
