Lots of feedback but good performances by both bands! :>D

All the tired rock cliche's were paraded on stage again at the Dublin Castle by Junkstar last night (April 24th)certainly living up to the first half of their name.
Singer JC clearly has a messiah complex to match his initials but sadly this JC is unlikely to rise again.

Glam/Punk and powerpop are 3 of my favourite things but on this showing Junkstar botch all 3."Going Nowhere" was aptly titled guitar plod, "Bluebottles" buzzed but didn't thrill and "Rock Bottom" scraped the barrel of indie dregs and came up smelling of stale riffage.
The sparse crowd barely raised a sweat as the band went through the motions which they had obviously practised monotonously.
Don't give up the day jobs guys, in the history books of rock you're a footnote at best.

The above review (24th April) is clearly someone playing a nasty joke on the band.

The review mentions songs that the band actually DID NOT play in their set with descriptions of them meaning that the above reviewer is either a liar or attempting to slag off this band for some reason and make up things.

That rubbish aside, I write for 2 other music zines and was there to watch the headline act but happily watched the self titled 'junkies' play a riveting and great 25 minute set with verve, vigour and some nice variety. The crowd which grew in size as the set wore on, seemed to really be enjoying the early (8pm) spectacle.

Part shoegaze, part guitar pop, they put me in mind of bands such as Arcade Fire with their last song head down and more in the tradition of edgy powerpop with set opener rock bottom. Singer JC was strutting his stuff in a purposeful manner and was backed up by a solid line up. Words were few and far between, but the music did the talking for the most part. Ones to watch for the not too distant future methinks!

Recommended.

I just read that review from sterox wot a load of shit! Were u even there? Junkstar were brill I thought. Exciting songs especially sounding the city - that's what it sounded like! And they were tight too. Everyone really liked them in the Dublin castle and that comment of sterox about JC is just unfair. He was a great frontman IMHO. I chatted to him after the set and he seemed very down to earth. Nice guy. An that review is definitely wrong in places as Tom says.
