Kaiser Chiefs in the charts

Not that this will really be of much interest as the charts are meaningless these days but Oh My God has got to number 6.

I wasn't at all surprised.

    Futureheads at 8 as well, suprised KC were higher than them.
    and i absolutly fucking hate the Kaiser Chiefs.

      For me the Kaiser Chiefs are what music should (to some extent) be all about: no pretensions, just big dumb fun...

      Don't like the singer though, too fat for the eyeliner look...

      I hope those guys do really really fucking well. They are so good at what they do. To have that many catchy songs and hooks should be criminal.

              I really like Oh My God. I Predict A Riot has some of the most hilariously bad lyrics ever though.

                A reason for my dislike of them is the amount of "La la la"'s or "na na na"'s they have. when i saw them at the NME thing it apeared that everysong had a section of the above.

                  And in both their songs I've heard, they do this really weird (but funny) crescendoing aaaaaaaaaaah thing leading into the chorus. It seems to be like their trademark or something.

                      i don't really know why the kaiser chiefs are so popular/hyped, they're nothing new or different and aren't particularly exciting or even 'cool-looking' for the libertines style NME hype they've received.

                      i just find them really grey...
                      anyone want to try and explain just why they're so good? i might appreciate them a bit if you can pinpoint it. or maybe not.

                        Did anyone see them on 'The Culture Show' on BBC2 last Friday? They were shown on tour. Whilst they seemed to be an antidote to those 'haircut' bands in lots of respects, they irritated me immensely. The singer reminded of Colin Hunt (Fast Show). It was all knowing 'English' humour and winks to camera.

                        I wanted to punch in my TV every time the singer's friendly yet Billy Bunter-esque face came on screen. Instead, I impotently watched the feature all the way through. Hypocrite, I know...

                          I think The Culture Show has shares in Kaiser Chiefs or something, they're constantly on it -they even drafted in the keyboardist for a piece on the Hammond organ.

    Don't you only need to sell about 15 copies to get into the top 10 now though? FWIW, I like what I've heard of KC, and the singer was all right on Buzzcocks a couple of weeks back.

          You're all Smiths loving wankers. Anything thats remotely a bit of fun, you hate. This band are incredible. They are also incredible live having seen them on the NME tour. Oh My God is brilliant. Nothing like a brainless singalong chorus.
