I probably only have enough money to buy one of their new albums. Bear in mind im giong to buy them both eventually, but im going to get one of them today and MUST decide.
I have listened to Mirrored a number of times and am completly underwhelmed by it (I thought I was the only one!)
Atlas is collosal but everything else seems a bit wide of the mark.
Saying that I didn't trulyenjoy the 2 EPs until that magical set of theirs at Truck last year so I am fully prepared to have this opinion of mine reversed.
it's a very different beast. I can imagine anyone looking for another IDM-fest was sorely disappointed. I guess I was a little, initially. But on reflection, I'm much happier to take what we got (this fusion of dancey dynamics and dirty, dirty rock shiznits) than the more beard-strokeyness of the earlier stuff.
Almost finished listening to it for the second time. And yeah, as predicted, Its awesome.
Heavy as fuck. Can't stop the foot stomping and pen drumming.
battles
don't ask me why - its a gut feeling
battles
cos it's amazing. Not heard the 65 days one but i'm not really a fan either.
battles!
Without doubt...
Battles.
Battles
hands down
Got to be Battles
Think i'll get both tomorrow. Pay day, get in there!
battles
i don't think a great deal of 65dos.
Battles without a doubt
the album is just mindblowing. You won't stop listening to it all day/week/month/year
Battles it is, then.
Cheery-bye!
I would've said 65dos hands down.
but the new record is a massive disappointment.
So...BATTLES it is!
On the Battles album
are all the vocals similar to those in Atlas?
not really
they're all quite processed and effected but not in the same way.
yes
main downfall of the album. that and the whole glam-rockiness of it.
huh?
it's plenty filthy and dirty from start to finish.
so it really is true
that I'm the only Battles fan disappointed with Mirrored. Maybe I just don't 'get' it yet, but it's never gonna beat B EP/EP C for me.
you're not alone

support one of the best independent labels in the UK. don't give middleman money to nasty amazon.
yep, warp is probably my favourite label
but i was getting a few other things from Amazon. And i've spent up my cd allowance for this week now, so i guess it'll have to wait
