DiS is back from the seaside… sadly. A gaggle of hip flask-wielding critics took their poison pens to both The Great Escape and All Tomorrow’s Parties, but now we’re back in the Smoke and wondering where the sunshine’s disappeared to. Returning to Paddington in the miserable drizzle… how very typical.
Adele and Laura Marling impressed at TGE, down Brighton way; also earning themselves a fair few thumbs up on the south coast were Gallows, Rolo Tomassi, The Strange Death Of Liberal England and I Was A Cub Scout – look out for review coverage of the event later this week.
Which leads us, conveniently, to our ATP review coverage for later this week: DiS is inviting you, the fans who attended the Versus The Fans weekender at Minehead’s sunshine-blessed Butlins campsite, to send us your verdicts on the ground-breaking three-dayer. Who impressed and who didn’t, who stood out and who absolutely sucked? What did you do on Saturday afternoon – stick out the FA Cup Final tedium or dash to Shellac? Did you see Grizzly Bear play on the beach?! Just how awful were Brightblack Morning Light, making us wait for Subtle like that…
What we want is between 300 and 400 words on your weekend; the best submissions will comprise part of the DiS review coverage, running later this week (once we receive all our lovely photographs!). Send your pieces via an onsite note, accessible through the Community area; alternatively click the writer’s name below and then click ‘Send a note’. This is, therefore, only open to registered DiS users. Keeps the quality up semi-colon lower-case ‘o’ close bracket.
We look forward to reading your opinions on the event; it'll be a DiS Versus the Fans affair, we guess. In the meantime, we’re off for a lie down… we really, really need it.

Portishead at All Tomorrow's Parties
Portishead are to be the next curators and will be performing exclusively at All Tomorrow's Parties, Nightmare Before Christmas in December 2007.
They will be playing their first full live set featuring new material in nearly 10 years at the event which is set for December 7, 8 & 9 at Butlins Holiday Camp at Minehead.
"We have always loved the All Tomorrow's Parties set up and we're happy our first shows will be there. It's great to have the opportunity to introduce bands we love or have influenced us. We've chosen a diverse collection of artists to play with us and we're really looking forward to it"
Details of the line up will be announced here and at the All Tomorrow's Parties site www.atpfestival.com where you'll also find details of how to buy tickets, accomodation available and how to get there.
w00p!
Is this because all the DiS staff got too drunk to remember any of it?
Well...
if they get Fantomas, Venetian Snares, MF Doom, Bjork, Patton Oswalt, Autechre and AC/DC to play im there.
exactly
those drunkards probably were probably too busy pushing each other around in trolleys to even see the bands
