so far...

1. Arcade Fire- Neon Bible (people will disagree but I love it)
2. !!!- Myth Takes
3. Panda Bear- Person Pitch

last year...
can't remember.

2007, in no particular order

LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
Battles - Mirrored

I don't have a third. Those two are the only albums that stand out way above the other stuff I've heard this year

So far

Battles - mirrored
Panda bear - person pitch
Arcade fire - neon bible

2006

subtle - for hero: for fool
Joanna newsom - Ys
Tv on the radio - return to cookie mountain

...

We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank - Modest Mouse
Sound of Silver - LCD Soundsystem
You, You're a History in Rust - Do Make Say Think

Though if Boys and Girls in America sort of counted I'd slide that in probably instead of DMST.

I can't just choose three...

So far

1 The National - Boxer
2. Malcolm Middleton - A Brighter Beat
3. !!! - Myth Takes

The Twilight Sad and Maps may have forced there way in there if Id more time to listen to them.

.

1. hissing fauna, are you the destroyer?
2. cassadaga
3. beyond

The National - Boxer

2. Panda Bear - Person Pitch
3. A Sunny Day In Glasgow - Scribble Music Comic Journal

Although, this'll change a lot - because I like tons of records this year the same amount. Most releases by bands I love this year have been disappointing, and there aren't any OUTSTANDING records that I've taken to, like previous years. Unlike previous years there have been a lot more sorta really strong 9/10 albums, such as the three mentioned above and dozens of others.

easy

2007:

THE CRIBS - Mens Needs, Womens Needs, Whatever

DARTZ! - This is My Ship

Biffy Clyro - Puzzle

so far

2007

1. The Cooper Temple Clause - Make This Your Own
2. Goldrush - The Heart Is The Place
3. The Hours - Narcissus Road

2006

1. The Open - Statues
2. Morning Runner - Wilderness Is Paradise Now
3. Asobi Seksu - Citrus

For me...

nothing has come close to the Of Montreal album so far this year. That's obviously partly because I haven't heard lots and lots of what's been released so far this year, but also because very little of what I have has stuck with me. After being hooked in by a few great tracks, I've on the whole been disappointed.

in no particular order

Dartz! - This Is My Ship
Maccabees - Colour It In
Frank Turner - Sleep Is For The Week

1. The National - Boxer

2. The Field - From Here We Go Sublime
3. The Shins - Wincing The Night Away

2007

hmmm

This year:
Mirrored- Battles
A Weekend In The City- Bloc Party
Myth Takes- !!!

are the three records that have stood out. They all have so much soul, in different ways. I reckon Puzzle by Biffy Clyro will edge out !!! in my end of year list, but right now, those are my picks

Last year it was

Return To Cookie Mountain- TV on the radio
Young Machetes- Blood Brothers
Blood Mountain- Mastodon

a hard trio to beat, I think.
