Just wondering what you people thought of them. I have always been slightly against them, but lately when there songs come on the radio I just cant help but start enjoying it. Am I sick, or just getting into some good music????????????

I like U2, but they rnt as good as they used 2 be. also, all of their stuff is either very good or very bad, however with or without you is truely beautiful.

they used to be cool man ha, no not really true but their older stuff was a lot more respectable than the music of late..my opinion

sure they were better, but never good enough to balance out their general crapiness.

its not so much that theyre crap as very very succesful, not much cop and pompous.

uh, the occasional really good song...The Fly, Discotheque, Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me, Staring At The Sun...

however i don't really think it warrants them being the mega-group they are. Yes they look a bit cool and Bono does a lot for charidee, but it doesn't for me detract from how utterly dull their last album, and the bulk of their back catalogue, seems to be.

I've got everything up to The Joshua Tree but nothing after it.

One of the better guitar bands of the eighties. If it wasn't for them helping to keep it in the mainstream you'd all be listening to nothing but The Darkness or cheesy keyboard pop.

Like Thommo said, they've produced a few really good songs (unfortunately alongside a lot of shite) and do lots of lovely charity work. The only problem I have with them is Bono's general smug-gittiness. If it wasn't for that they'd be really, really... well, nice.

Did you know that you can get U2 special edition ipods.
They are black and red £249 and are signed by each member of the band.You get a free poster and £40 of the "complete U2"

Who the hell would want to buy one of those?

I have always hated U2. My only consolation in their continued existence is that I can fondly recall obscure Dublin band of c15 years ago The Last Party, and their splendid rant "Jesus Hates U2".

That last single is "Get Free" by The Vines, isn't it? Which in turn is something else, I suppose...

REM were unbelieveably consistent for about 15 years. They can hardly be put in the same boat as U2, who by the way I think have written some grrrrrreat songs amidst all the dad-rock.

U2 inconsistent - yes. REM inconsistent - hell no, not until Bill Berry left anyway. They were stunningly brilliant 1983-96, and even since then they've released several really good songs amid some mediocre stuff.

When they started out

I didn't care for them. Around 'Achtung Baby' they got quite good, now they release a decent single once in a while.

They don't concern me very much.
