Less Than Jake
After about a 30 minute interval Less Than Jake took to the stage accompanied by the loudest roar of the day courtesy of the tired, sunburnt, sweaty but up for it crowd. Looking like throw backs from the glam rock era they rocket through the first 3 songs before pausing breifly to hype up the crowd even more before hammering out more of their trademark ska-punkage stopping only to point out the giant inflatable penis circling the crowd which somehow ended up duct-tapped to the back of the guy in the skull mask.
It was by far the best set of the night, and as the sun drifted down past the horizon to the tune of Johnny Quest Thinks We’re Sellouts free t-shirts were flying from the stage, pez dispensers were flying onto the stage, Roger was cheering on the single people in the crowd and Chris orchastrated the biggest circle pit of the night which attracted every lunatic, drunk and suicidal person in the crowd, the joys of loud live music.
By the time the LTJ boys got to All My Bestfriends Are Metalheads they had proved they are a tightknit unit with an overwhelming stage presence, even the people there that had only come to see Spunge and Pitchshifter couldn’t fail to give the Gainsville posse the attention they craved.
Baying for an encore the Nottingham crowd began chanting the name of the headliners they wanted even more of, after 5 minutes of chanting they were obliged and once again the glam rockers took to the stage for one final song of Gainsville Rock City which had the whole crowd bouncing in every direction and singing along. Well, singing as best they could. The confetti cannons fired, more free t-shirts were thrown to the masses and every single person who attended went home happy.
This is indeed how live music should be.

Less Than Jake - Nottingham Victoria Embankment
Hmm...5/5? Best gig of your life then? I can understand that a light ska-punk gig could be fun, but a 5/5 rating suggests this music is somehow life changing, classic, has the potential for longevity. Somehow, I doubt these criteria are met even for the most ardent of Less Than Jake fans.-
Re: Less Than Jake - Nottingham Victoria Embankment
I get where your coming from but it was a live review, which means I took into account how much fun I had, the crowd had, how well the band played on the night, etc... Everybody I spoke to afterwards enjoyed the show, granted the music isn't life changing but the live performance is up there with the best of 'em
