Pineapple warning....excessive consumption is not recomended, you know that effect it can have on your tongue/teeth? well thats not just acid, there is an enzyme in it too, which, if my memory serves me correctly, is actually starting to work on breaking down your tissues.
Also be careful where you put pineapples, as they can be awkward to extricate.
I do not like physalis, alas...Pretty Vacant, I tried them years ago, and they seemed to taste...well just off.
The physalis (cape gooseberry) is also related to the beautiful deadly nightshade berry's, and the aptly named (but poisonous) bittersweet or woody nightshade, henbane, thornapple or more mundanely the tomato aubergine and potato.
Thank you.
The haw is a much underated fruit, a bit powdery with a vague apply taste, but some of them can stay on the tree for quite sometime, making them a valuable wild food.
The hawthorn or may tree is a generally great tree, apart from it thorns it is exceedingly benign, only the oak supports a greater number of species.
You can eat the leaves(also a good cardiac tonic), eat the haws and the root wood burns with the hottest flame of all woods.
Have I forgot to mention its beauty of it when it is in mass blossom, maybe you havn't noticed it before, and the smell, is a total aphrodisiac, check it out this year, it should be out 13th May or there abouts (They changed the calendar to not coincide with mayday) It is normally incredibly reliable, and I would recommend you all taking the opportunity to find somewhere where there are masses of the stuff to appreciate it, have a spliffy picnic or something, and reflect on the true meaning of our festival of mayday or beltaine.
Ooohhh Friday the 13th, I'm not leaving the house to have a picnic, might get eaten by something :-)
Wan't to stay alive for my birthday the following day.
Blimey, never checked out that it would be a Friday...even better...Fridays 13th May....perfect....Its the Christian church that doesn't like Friday the 13ths.
i've never actually plucked up the courage to try pistachio ice cream. i've always known pistachios as really salty, so the thought of them as ice cream is just...ew. but i might give it a go smothered passionfruit.
that must look really disgusting hehe! green gloop covered in what looks a bit like cat sick..mmmm
mmmmmmmmmm... im well in the mood for a fruit salad now... yumyumyum. bit of pineapple, few apricots, some grapes, strawberries, cherries, yumyumymyumyumyumyum *smacks lips*
