    • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

I'll take your Kim Deal and raise you Kim Gordon. Now girl has ever sounded cooler than her on Kool Thing
  • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

gwen stafani solo or tragic kingdom era no doubt ?
    • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

      No Doubt era.
      • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

thats ok ... no doubt used to be alright , not quite sure what the solo stuff is about
  • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

    Gwen Stefani!!!
She ain't no indie chick, she only deserves to be in bloody Toys R us driving her Dream car.
    • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

bjork bjork bjork bjork bjork bjork.

she also deserved to be top of the looks not music thread. shes just so damn great.
    • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

She is so! She did her time on the live circuit with punk & ska sweatmeisters. She's an indie girl who broke through to the mainstream.
      • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

an indie girl wouldn't wanna break through to the mainstream:p
  • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

Add Kristin Hersh, Siouxsie and Miky Berenyi.
    • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

      siouxie sioux
I think Chrissie Hynd is fabulous...she might not be the prettiest and I guess she's getting on a bit for most of you guys, but there is something that is so self assured about her that makes her stand out, live she oozes sex appeal.
Don't get the charlotte hatherley and Louise werner fancying though....sure they are pretty, but the appeal doesn't seem to go any further than that (for me)
No ones mentioned my favourates yet.....Xmal Deutschland.
Oh and annabel Lwin out of bow wow wow

Don't suppose that smashing pumpkins are considered indie here, cos otherwise why has no-one mentioned
      the fantastic
      Darcy Wretsky

Can't Kate bush be considered indie...she seems more indie than gwen stefani.
Justine Frischman..(although Mrs knees thinks she looks like a boy)
      • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

haha this is how confusion begins. This is the music not looks thread Creaky.
        • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

Ooopps, never mind I won't bother to alter it I'm not that concerned, cos I tend to only fancy women in rock who's music I like....maybe that why I dont rate Louise Werner and Charlotte Hatherley.....

Although of course I have to mention (sorry I know this must be as boring as John Brainlove with Bjork) Liz frazer. ( can you fancy someone just cos of their voice)
          • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

Well Jeff Buckley liked her so she must have something. I don't know, I like certain female indie/rock artists songs but I can't say careerwise I can think of a female artist which I admire. I would say Cat Power is a favourite from what I've heard. Her stuff is frank and beautifully sang. I'd say Blondie was good too but I'm not a big fan, it is good indie pop.
  • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

What about Brody Dalle, Kirsten Hirsch & Tanya Donnelly, Karen O, Sleater Kinney...
    • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

ooo, i forgot liz fraser! and brody dalle??? noooooooo
  • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

Can't believe all you people forgot

    PEACHES

    and

    KATIE JANE.

    Pffffft.
    • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not looks)

      Meg White
      • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

Meg White isn't a talented drummer to be fair though. I admire Bjork for her survival through the years and she's done it with alot more class than Madonna has. I'm not really a fan but there are points where she got my interest. Karen O is probably my favourite female singer in current terms, she knows how to deliver pain and melancholy.
  • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

    Grace Slick.....she was a fox!
    • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

thread...must...not...die! otherwise we all look really shallow for letting the "looks not music" one storm into the lead :)
      • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

as a royal trux fanboy i'll have to add jennifer herrema even if it's obvious Neil Hagerty has all the talent...
        • Re: Top 10 indie girls in history (music, not look

          Chan Marshall aka Cat Power
