he always seems to get

overlooked despite his fantastic albums

yeah

but it counts as this year if you're from mojo (re: that 6music thing i did yesterday)

Haven't heard that

I liked his cover of 'Let's Dance' though.

yup it's very good

always reminds me of Ed Harcourt (which is an excellent thing)
I'd Say Ed HArcourt's "A beautiful Lie" is one of the most underrated albums of last year

Starts off well

But gets quite dull, quite quickly, especially with the wannabe Nick Drake tracks.

...

Eyes don't have skin.

for me

Miracle Fortress - Five Roses

completely ignored

Can I suggest

The Berg Sans Nipple's "Along The Quai" - nobody seems to know about this and it's really great... it hasn't been released in Europe yet though, so I guess that's a decent reason.

I love this

Saw them supporting Do Make Say Think earlier this year. You could stream the album from the Saddle Creek site, don't know if you still can.

I also find it a bit dull.

It's far too 'polite' for my liking. Bit too MOR.

yellow house

is far better. and equally as overlooked, at least in the UK.

did the andrew douglas rothbard album

come out this year? if so, that.

Ozomatli - Don't Mess With The Dragon

My album of the year so far, and nary a mention of it anywhere. The best thing they've recorded.

DJ Scotch Egg - Scotchausen

It didnt even get a review on here :(

His least good album

in my opinion

feist-the reminder

no-one seems to be talking about it at all but i love it. maybe my album of the year.

poof

two words:

beth
orton

Joan As Policewoman

Real Life would be mine (I bought it last month). But it came out last year. So I'll go with Feist.

They are both amazing albums

I tried to buy a JAPW t-shirt, but they didn't have any large ones. Dang.

Only one candidate

and it hasn't even had a UK release yet. Jim Fairchild, the guitarist from Grandaddy, has released an album called 'Ten Readings Of A Warning' under the pseudonym of All Smiles. It's brilliant, catchy, and criminally overlooked.

It's okay. Not his best.

But the Daniel Johnston cover is so fun.
And it has a fair bit of acclaim.

Overlooked albums of the year:

David Thomas Broughton - It's In There Somewhere
The Field - From Here We Go Sublime (althoughg critically that's done very well)
A Sunny Day in Glasgow - Scribble Mural Comic Journal
The Veils - Nux Vomica (US release)
Rhys Chatham - A Crimson Grail

THE Field

album is awesome!! Thanks 'thewarn' for that!!

never heard of them until last week and now i can't stop!! reminds me of ambient works 85-92 era aphex twin in places, just without the glitches

This year?

BARR - Summary.
