Oh and
whether you actually go to games, or just spport from afar.
Thanks
Cardiff City
all home games. very rarely away nowadays. since 1986 when first taken to a game by my cousin.
Liverpool - since about 1982 and from that day since they've not played Cardiff so it's still OK. been about three times.
Dundee United - pointless Scottish affiliation I've been stuck with since 1983.
Leicester City - 1993-96 while at Uni and for a short while after. Stevie Claridge's speculative wallop in the last minute of the 1996 play-off final is still a fond memory.
Keith - because most people don't have a Highland League team named after them.
This season I will be attending my first game in support of Bristol Rovers (when they play Swasnea).
You go first
Okay yes, sorry
AFC Bournemouth.
Consider myself a big fan but probably only go to maybe a dozen games a season, about half of which (or more) are away, what with me not living in Bmth anymore.
Nottm Forest by birth
Haven't been in years.
Also, have a family obligation to Arsenal, but refuse to go and see them at them Bumfuck Arse Twat Stadium.
Reading fan
Maybe you can shed some light on why Bournemouth fans seem to hate us? Always seemed a weird one to me.
Its daft isnt it?
We are a club desperate for a local team to hate and whilst the fans try with Southampton its a bit pointless because they are a world away from us (financially if not in terms of leagues these days)and also they quite like us.
So we try with Reading as its sort of local, but its equally pointless.
Really we all hate Leeds after they rioted through the town and smashed the place (and a few people) up.
Personally I only hate them, Man Utd and Bristol City.
Why Bristol City?
You always beat us!
Ah right, irrational hatred
The best kind in football.
Not irrational
And we dont always beat you anymore. Annoyingly.
I hate them because (and bear in mind I live in Bristol) all I hear from BCFC fans/the media is how big a club they are, how they deserve to be in a higher division and how they should be steamrollering (is that a word) teams like us.
Admittedly they are now in a division above, but their fans are still tedious (i'm sure you are charming though!), and the atmosphere at AG is shit considering how many people are there.
Obviosuly it's nonsense when people talk aboutr "deserving to be a higher division"
The last 8 seasons in League One have been completely on merit of us not being good enough to get promoted.
But it does have to be said that we have woefully underachieved in recent years and based on resources etc. we probably ought to be looking at becoming an established Championship club
That's not to say that we've got any right to expect anything and we ultimately (until hopefully next season) we just haven't been good enough for the Championship and that's why we weren't playing there. But when you look at how much other clubs achieve on more limited resources we've got no excuse for coming back down again.
Completely agree
Well put.
You are aware that the rest of your fans arent quite so level headed.
Oh and you know you have a friendly against us on August 4th. Am worryingly excited about it!
I know what you mean about City fans
although it has to be said I do know quite a lot who are realistic and sensible. But there is a vocal minority who seem a little unrealistic (as there are with any club and certainly any club with aspirations of being a 'big' club).
Ultimately City are historically the 'bigger' of the 2 Bristol clubs (which is admittedly is a pretty minor boast!) so are naturally gonna carry the brunt of the unrealistic expectations in the media. It's nice to see Rovers doing well as it'll maybe take the pressure off a bit and mean the media concentrate on them a little more.
Was a really good season in the South West
Rovers, City and Swindon up. Chelt stayed up when they looked certain to go down. Exeter and Yeovil in the playoffs.
Am boring myself now!
Ipswich Town
Partick Thistle, who do you support?
His name's not Partick Thistle dude...
I'm ashamed of myself for laughing at that
Bristol City.
Support from afar.
Bristol Rovers.
Looking forward to the away game
already. Hopefully you will still be at the Mem so i can alk to an away game! Wooooooooo!
Congratulations on the promotion.
Wonder how long it'll be 'til we're in the same division again.
I really hope
City go straight back down. In fact, behind Cherries getting promoted and Leeds getting relegated again, thats all I want from next season.
I reckon you'll be disappointed.
Yeah
The chances of any of tose things happening are remote. More likely we will go down (we currently have a squad of 8) City will be mid-table, and Leeds will go back up having smashed the town up again.
The one good thing about the City promotion was that it will save me a fortune in bets with my colleagues!
I don't see Leeds going straight up
Millwall, Sheff Wed, Forest etc. have all found it difficult to adjust at this level and I think Leeds are gonna find the same.
Don't know enough about Bournemouth situation to comment. I think City'll be okay - we've got a good manager and the players seem to work hard for him and we should be able to keep clear of the relegation places.
Yeah you will be fine
no doubt.
Bristol City...
...hoping for a successful Championship season!
Arsenal
as if i can afford that!
i might go to the reserve games next season because they're free and i'll probably be living near Barnet.
I'll be going to the reserves next season
Barnet is only 10 minutes on the bus. See you there!
MAYBE YOU WILL!
maybe you will.
Underhill ho!
Arsenal
share a season ticket.
I went to Arsenal last season
in the corporate boxes.
God I felt dirty!
the new stadium as a whole
makes me feel dirty.
that'll be the pulonium 210
I liked it
But then I did get a four course meal, all the booze I could drink and an excellent cheese board.
I lead a double life.
Liverpool
Couple of matches a season used to be about 10.
Arsenal
I also have an interest in Colchester United, but this is subject to change, and it's looking like it could be West Ham which would be SHIT
Norwich City
Yeah I know
hehe
finished beneath us.
For the first time in ages!
Wait until next season buster!
oh it's on
have you been linked with any decent players
gavin rae
so that would be a no
!
and Billy Sharp - he's awesome. Are you going to sign Jeffers?
Derby might pull a ram raid and get him
either that or we'll pay over the odds, still technically he should be good
Ha!!
Not a chance. Jeffers is awful in a bun.
blatently true but I must not reality get in the way of my football optimism
who cares that he even looked shit in the SPL
I'd have him at Norwich
Billy Sharp is a better target
but I'd be sortof pleased with Jeffers
Nottingham Forest
went to about half the home games last season, share a season ticket with a mate work shifts as does he so we kind of just go when we can, also i was there when the mighty Yeovil put 5 past us!
Reading FC
I work in Reading and have always lived locally. Get down there as much as I can, though prices have risen a bit.
Over the course of a season
due to being a bit obsessed wtih stadiums/all the stuff around a game as much as the football itself I tend to go to a few other clubs each season. Last year went to games at Bristol City, Rovers, Mangotsfield, Arsenal etc etc etc.
What a tragic little man.
You didnt go to
the first Majedski sell out did you? Reading v AFCB, last game of the season when you were down in the third teir. You were already in the play offs, we needed to win to get in them (and be aganst you!). Defoe was on the rampage and we wre 1-3 at half time (I think), then threw it away for a 3-3 and a seventh spot finish.
Also that day we were relying on a Wigan result.
I look back on that day and think.............."FOR FUCKS SAKE HOW COME BOTH OF THEM ARE NOW IN THE PREMIERSHIP AND WE ARENT!"
I was there that day
As I recall, we had a free-kick 20 yards out at 3-2 down.
We make a sub, Darren Caskey saunters on to the pitch, straight up to the ball and puts it right in the top corner for the equaliser.
Did enjoy that day.
Yes thats right!
And also, a helicopter flew in the ground at halftime. That scared the shit out of me!
I was so gutted at the end though........
Trust me, it felt a whole heap worse at Cardiff
Tony Rougier's entry for greatest own goal ever and Darren bloody Byfield.
Probably for the best in the long run but hurt like hell at the time.
Didnt you go up then?
I have got my seasons muddled up I think but cold swear you went up that season. Thats surely the only reason why I didnt go for the away leg the next year?
Maybe I was on holiday or summat.
No we lost in the play-offs that season
We were promoted the following year in 2nd spot behind Rotherham thanks to a 1-1 draw at Brentford on the last day that sent them in to the play-offs.
You beat us 1-0 at Dorchester and we drew 2-2 at the Madjeski.
Thats pretty good for us
I'm amazed I went to neither of those games though. Dorchester was shit, but I must have had something really good on to miss away at Reading.
Oh well.
If I remember rightly
You missed a pen with about 5 mins to go at the Madjeski that would have put you 3-2 up.
If that had happened we'd have ended up in the play-offs, lost (we always do) and probably still be in League 1.
I dont want to talk about it
any more.
You are depressing me.
Rangers F.C.
I had a season ticket two seasons ago , but was unsure what my situation was going to be last year with work so i only managed a couple of games.
Tottenham
:)
pretty big fan but dont go to as many games as i would like.
^ Ban request
Hendon
home and away.
Yabby Creek FC
home and away
I can't believe you just made that joke
And I can't believe I smiled.
^^ pretty much this
Gresley Rovers FC
Massive interest in Leeds United since birth and also a large interest in Lincoln City due to going to Uni there and accidentally falling in love with the place and the team.
Barnet
and occasionally Liverpool
Bristol Rovers
mostly home, some away.
we've just had the most exciting season in about a decade. i'm still trying to get used to it.
hello i'm new.
Please see above
for my excitement about the away game at Rovers (subject to you not playing that one at Chelt)
why are Rovers fans known as Gasheads?
I'm so ignorant.
They used to play next to a gasworks
this ^
was used as an insult by C**y fans when we played by the gasworks at eastville. was taken up by Rovers.
They've only recently taken them away.
I went to school about 400 yards from them.
Coventry City.
West Ham United
I go to a few home games a season.
Leeds Utd
we're not all hooligans :P I go to the odd game, although not so much now i'm down in brighton...
I'm an Everton fan
but also support Celtic a bit up in Scotland. Go to all the Everton games in London and surrounding areas (eg Reading), make it up to Goodison about four or five times a season.
I'm a big hater of Liverpool, Rangers, Newcastle, West Ham (the new Newcastle) and Birmingham.
ok, I'll bite
why are West Ham the new Newcastle? Surely not because of tabloid rumours that we are after your players?
basically
the abrupt flashing of stupid amounts of cash has turned me against the club a bit. Offering Scot Parker £90,000 / week is a good example. Bidding £20 million and offering £100,000 / week to AJ (apparently).
Also, there has been a fair bit on West Ham forums about why AJ, Cahill and Arteta are destined for a big club like WH, and are desperate to leave small-time Everton. Suddenly acquiring great wealth doesn't make a club big or successful. This doesn't make me angry, more just makes me feel a few Hammers are delusional (ie. like Newcastle fans). It's all a shame, because I've got quite a few friends who are Hammers and they certainly know their football and are grounded, genuine football fans.
all those figures are pure
fiction made up by tabloid journos who are filling in space until the transfers start actually happening.
I wouldn't put too much credence on web forums, they're a hell of a lot of mongs out there with some very strange and warped views. Also a lot of kids acting tough.
As far as the money thing goes, all West Ham fans will be happy with actually have some to spend for a change rather than relying on player sales and admittedly quite a few fans are getting above themselves on who we can buy but I think people are very wary of buying success and the problems high wages can give you so would prefer a more long term approach.
Cheers
You can come to Bmth
away then!
I am going to go, but its going to be horrible. Our message board is already flooded with threats and abuse and general "we are looking forward to smashing it up again" posts.
might give that one a miss thanks :/.
to be fair 90% of the leeds posts on those forums have been complete wind ups, most leeds fans honestly won't be out to cause trouble
a combination of really strict policing controls, hostile home supporters out for 'revenge' and a few of our moron element could turn it pretty nasty though...
it'll be a mid week game i'm guessing
Yeah I suspect
a tuesday in feb. Trouble is that does facilitate all day drinking which worries me a bit.
I reckon a midday winter kick off is a better idea. Either way I am there.
