Rilo Kiley to chart?

I saw a midweek chart update (think it was on Planet Sound, yay!) and Rilo Kiley's new one wasn't on it. Shame, I thought, although I haven't bought it because....

I'm probably going to buy the whole album next week! Now, convince me that I won't like More Adventurous. As you can see on my profile I do like the tuneful stuff but if anyone thinks I'll hate the Rilo Kiley album then speak now and save me a tenner!

They strike me as a terribly dull band. Saw them supporting Bright Eyes.

Me too! But don't forget to buy their last album 'the execution of all things' on ebay! Actually don't because it's gone above a fiver now and I feel guilty selling it as it's not worth it.

They're...pleasent. Thats not a bad thing its just not a great thing either. The tracks i've heard have failed to be too exciting or intresting. I think they'd be pretty hard to hate but equally pretty hard to describe as an essential purchase.

i think from the looks of your profile that youl probably like it ... theres a couple of skipable tracks , but overall its a pleasant poppy little disc

Looking at your profile you seem to have similar taste to me, and More Adventurous was one of my favourite albums of last year. Buy it!

I think I shall buy it, thank you. So you like Avril Lavigne? My housemate is going to see her soon. I'm not convinced, although I liked Complicated and Skater Boi.

people, people, you have it all wrong! Rilo Kiley are fucking amazing and no one can say otherwise! more adventurous is definately worth buying, better than the other two albums i feel. many great songs on it such as "i never" and "does he love you?".

I was considering going. I think the two you mention are her best songs. And the new album isn't as good as the first one, although I really like the singles from that too.
I dont know if i'd feel selfconscious going to see her live, i'd be so much taller than everyone else...


You won't regret the rilo kiley album. Great band.

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone! I just bought More Adventurous and I'm liking it a lot. The first 2 tracks, especially, were excellent (my housemate says they reminded him of early Dire Straits...).

Said housemate is happily listening to the album with me and he's not a fan of indie or pop. More of a prog man.

Oh, and the single didn't even get into the top 75, according to the rundown on Yahoo. But that Amarillo song is no.1. Does not compute.

The single was ineligable for the charts, as both formats were released at £1.99, breaking chart rules. It would have almost certainly gone top 40 otherwise!

I'm sure someone else will clarify, but I believe if two or more CD formats are priced at £1.99 it's deemed ineligable, that's why you normally see a 2 track £1.99 and a maxi £2.99. I think it's a new rule... Sorry for the vagueness. Where's Alan Downes when you need him?
