Seeing as forums such as these mention the great man very little I thought that I'd start a thread on him. What are everyone's favourite songs (mine being Don't think twice it's alright, It aint me babe, Positively 4th street and Like a rolling stone)/albums/shows he's done. Also are there any people who don't like him?

Re: Dylan
I love him. I only really started appreciating just how good he is about a year ago.
Blood on the Tracks is one of the most amazing albums I've ever heard. I love pretty much every track on it. Shelter from the Storm and You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome... particularly.
The Freewheelin' and Highway 61 Revisited are both excellent too. Really need to get Blonde on Blonde, I've been meaning to buy it for ages.
As for people who don't like Bob Dylan - I think they do really, they just don't realise yet :)
Re: Dylan
He has written many amazing songs but his voice takes a while to get used to.
Re: Dylan
Easily in my top three Musical artists of all time.
My favourite song is between Man in the Long Black Coat. or Positively Fourth Street.
I have about Half his albums, but no particular favourite.
Re: Dylan
Dylan is amazing, saw him live and he was a bit craky though.
Favourite songs are
Boots of Spanish Leather,
With God on our side,
Masters of War,
Desolation Row,
Idiot Wind,
Most of the Time,
One More cup of Coffee,
Not Dark Yet,
Love Sick,
Re: Dylan
Yeah, I saw him at the Fleadh last year and I was quite dissapointed. I think it was because he went all rock bluesy, I would have much preferred a more folk orientated set.
Re: Dylan
probably the greatest songwriter of all time,

Re: Dylan
definitely
my personal favourite is the hurricane
Re: Dylan
I'm with you there, I'd put The Hurricane in my top five Bob songs, along with Girl From the North Country, Positively Fourth Street, I Shall Be Released and Like A Rolling Stone. The great thing about Dylan is his genius is in his songs simplicity, anyone can pick up a guitar and learn a Dylan songs in a few minutes but no-one can write them like he does.
I have Chrinicles but I haven't gor round to reading it yet, I really should.
Re: Dylan
Dylan's great, Blonde on Blonde is a disappointment musically but great lyrically and his religious period is underrated.
Re: Dylan
chronicles is a great book - very readable although the non-chronological conversational voice he uses means that you have to be paying close attention
Re: Dylan
hard rain's a gonna fall
Re: Dylan
I think The Band eclipsed him in the late 60s.
Re: Dylan
Dylan is amazing
Re: Dylan
I like his last album actually. 'Love & Theft'. at least one absolute classic on there - "Mississippi"... I like his croaky voice these days, so much character in it, you can hear the experience - his voice never was really that 'musical' anyway.
Re: Dylan
i respect him, his lyrical skill and humour, but i sont really have anytime for him.
i like "like a rolling stone" and some of his more humourous early stuff, but really dont get off on him much.
Re: Dylan
I'm a big fan but listening to him goes in fits and starts.Blood on the tracks is great as is Desire.I saw in Dublin in 1994 he was enthusiatic but the voice went after about an hour. His contribution to music is undoubtedly phenomenal.
