but I just heard her for the first time after reading this and looking up her MySpace (sorry if I'm out of the loop) and she's not too very bad at all.
They're nice harmless little songs with a good point and nice melodies. A nice little swing like early Mirah and Nedelle also which I like.
The lyrics are nice, truthful, realistic and relevant (regardless of whether or not her record label came up with them to make her look cool) and I really like the minimalist piano, reminds me of bits of White Magic at times.
The accent seems a bit forced but I don't mind that either.
So yes, if this is the next big thing then I'm quite happy about it. I have no idea what back story for indie/punk rock-hatred there is but I don't care. It's nice.
Whether or not she's hot is completely irrelevant.

and she is unconventionally cute.. Aside from that she has a few cool songs which shows (at this moment atleast) that she has more strings to her bow than Lilly Allen (who is also quite hot btw). I think if your good being hot is a definite bonus
